A8 slipping in 4th 5th and 6th

Only thing stock on the car is the trans, makes 1000+
This is our FIFTH 8 speed TRANS!!!!

What is going on/what can I do????????????????????/

Find someone who actually knows how to tune a torque based ECM and TCM…

If the torque model is off (yours obviously is) then the TCM will not understand how much power you’re making and the trans will not deal with that for long.

I would listen to Josh. Sounds like he is running an unmodified A8, but would not hurt to ask.

Not to bust your chops, but I probably would've been asking more questions about three transmissions ago.

Correct, I’m still on the stock A8 and torque converter. But now that I’ve jinxed myself…

I think Josh is correct. Does the car have meth injection?

Speaking of guys that can tune a torque based ECM/TCM…King is a great choice.

I think I’m right too. A Procharger doesn’t hit the trans nearly as hard as a PD blower, and yet there are tons of us PD guys still running stock A8s. Chewing up FIVE A8s is crazy.

Yeah I agree and most Procharger guys seem to run Meth. My guess is the Virtual torque tables are not setup to compensate for the meth and that will burn up these transmissions fast.

I know the car, he runs at our track and they've been thru a bunch of trans for sure. I dont' think the car has made it out of the 10s since its had so many trans issues. Its sound really nasty and everything else seems really well built.

Just need to ask so i understand this right. Trans is untouched. No upgrade at all? I'm wondering because i've yet again been struck by the mod bugg lol . I want to reach 900 whp and i'd guess around 770 lbft. I believe i have a great tuner so i trust his capabilities.

In my case, A8 is untouched. Upgraded DS and half shafts FWIW.

The key is the tuning. I’m sure I’m leaving some time on the table by leaving the torque management on, but I’d rather that than rebuild the transmission every weekend…. If you want full power shifts you can do it, but it’s $6K to do a hardcore A8 build.

Thanks for the info, and with my build still fresh i'm constantly nervous something is going to break lol but i'm warming up to it now . Will keep it like this for the year and plan whats next. Probably alot.

Hopefully your tuner has your virtual torque and VVE tables tuned correctly. That way your TCM will see accurate data.
