ZLE Oil Pump/Cooler Replacement

Has anyone found someone who sells upgraded/replacement Oil Pump for those of us with ZL1s built in the sketchy oil pump period of 2017?

Looking to upgrade/replace the oil pump and get a bigger oil cooler if available when the engine is pulled out this winter!

I would leave the oil cooler alone, if you don't have big power mods like a pulley increasing air temps the stock water cooled unit is great and no issues with high oil temps. Upgrading it will only open the door to warranty issues if anything breaks, and maybe leaks.

I also talked to Katech and they're looking into it, I wouldn't trust anyone else to do it right.

I currently have pulley, intake, tune, and full headers to tips. TB, Heads and Cam are coming next month. Warranty went out the day it was purchased.

Next idea would just be to buy a newer version from GM

Is there a new bigger version of the ZL1 oil cooler for 2020 or a bigger GM unit that will fit in it's place.

It's a compact unit that mounts on the side of the oil pan if memory serves me, so you'd need something that fits that location or run a secondary Setrab air cooler up front.

Oil temp isn’t a problem with these cars. Some of the early oil pumps had an issue and rumor has it that was rectified in later models.

Katech oil pump update

Hey Guys,
This is my first post. Just picked up a 2018 ZL1 in hyper blue. It's a NicKey edition car with an A10. Build date is 9/2017 and I'm getting the PO6dd code so I am sure the oil pump is on it's way out.
I researched a pile of options for something other than GM and there is nothing out there.
I was able to talk to one of the engineers at Katech. They are in fact working on a oil pump for the wet sump LT4's. The crappy is that he couldn't give me an estimated date they would be done. Just thought this might be useful if there are a few of you with good oil pumps thinking of replacing them as preventative maintenance. You might want to wait to see what Katech comes up with

If you're sure your oil pump is "on it's way out", stop driving your car immediately!

A failing oil pump will send metal throughout your motor, into the oil galleys, bearings, valvetrain, etc. Even if you you replace then pump later, the damage to critical parts, especially the bearings, will be lasting.

If you're sure the pump is failing take it to the dealer for replacement, even if they wont cover it. If the pump fails completely and there is no obvious evidence of additional damage, they will only cover the pump and send you on your way to drive a ticking time-bomb.

If you catch it early, you may avoid any lasting damage.

I'm sure Melling makes a superior replacement

Why are you so confident your oil pump is failing?

Date code and the fact that the oil pressure doesn't change with speed and load as it should. I've talked with the guys at Speed Inc and another shop here that does a good amount of LS and LT work and they feel that its at least worth looking at as well
I am going to be doing a cam swap as well as long tubes so I am just going to put a new pump in for saftey's sake. Not worth worrying about for the $120 the new pump cost me.

That's my thought, catch it early. At this point the date code is enough for me to replace the pump.
I am not going to take it to a dealer though. I prefer to do all the work on my fun cars myself. I guess I just prefer to check and double check things myself.
