Mach 1 reviews

It would be great to see how the Mach 1 does against the amazing performing SS1LE. Here are some reviews of the Mach 1 test drives:

The motortrend review was about what I expected. A combo of the best mustang parts available, makes a great handling car when equipped with the handling pack but even MT commented that it's expensive and unless you are going to use it as intended you are better off with a GT. That was kind of shocking to me that they said that but totally understandable.

Pretty much summed up my feelings on the Mach 1. It is a very nice package for this late in the S550 life cycle but its expensive.

Sam Strano autocrossed his new Mach 1 and his old SS1LE this weekend with both cars on RT-660s. The Camaro tires were smaller at 275/295 vs 305/315 on the Mustang and he said the times were the same. I'd say that's another win for the 1LE if you put it on the wider rubber.

He ran a 1:56.something at Pitt Race in his Mach 1 at a TNiA a couple weeks ago, but he never ran the 1LE there.

Nice car, but it's both a poor replacement for the 350 and way overpriced. Ford fanbois will still pay ADM though it seems... amazing.

6th gen's Alpha chasis provides much better performance. FORD always tries to compensate a poor chassis with the Cup tires to be able to compete (Shelby GT350R, later GT350, PP2 and now the Mach l).

I remember when the trolls used to come over here and talk about how the ZL1 doesn't fetch a markup because nobody wants them and they're not worth the price and they can only be sold if they have huge discounts. LOL!! And now they're paying damn close to ZL1 prices for a Mach1 and probably more than that for the standard Gt350 (when they were still in production and after they shot up in price). I still say that their agreeing to pay all those markups is why the premium tier Mustangs are all soo disgustingly expensive for the performance you get out of them. Corvettes and Camaros still remain the absolute best value for performance, options, features, and quality.

I think for the money it's definitely a dud vs the ss 1le when going off of overall capability... however I'd love one for free lol

Ford has learned they are giving the dealer too much margin. IMO the car is $8-12k overpriced, which isn't leaving dealers too much room for ADM, lol... I have a feeling the Ford fans willing to buy the car would be paying for it one way or another, and I'd rather pay it on msrp vs adm.

Well they did it to themselves. They drove their own market up.
