Any regrets on 3.73 installation?

Im considering swapping my 3.27's with 3.73's.
Has anyone experienced any big negatives with this setup?
Im concerned about any popping and creaking noises coming from the rear of my vehichle like others have mentioned. What has been the overall experience with this gear swap? thanks!

Here's a post of at least one person with regrets ...think it was mtcwby

"I've been waiting for the 3.91's from Lingenfelter ever since I broke my 3.73 Richmond's at C5festII. I just talked to them today and they haven't received them yet from AAM, but hopefully the first part of next week. My rear diff is really wanting to get back in my car.
I'll keep everyone posted as to my first impressions as soon as they arrive.

Here's a pic of my broken Richmond's:"

that was MTNCWBY's rear diff. He is an M6 trans... not an auto.

I would think 3.73 would be a great gear for an Auto trans.

I have the AAM 3.70's from RPM Transmission in my A6 car. Love them, no noise at all. Made 15 passes at the track last weekend without any problems.

Damn....that's the first set of 3.73 I've heard of breaking. Were they not setup properly?

I know the 4.11 were supposed to be known for breaking but I thought the 3.73 were supposed to be good.

Personally, I wouldn't ever use Richmond gears again. It was a nice ratio, but if I had it to do over again I'd have gone with the Lingenfelter AAM 3.70's.

Jannetty set up the Richmond 3.73's in my car, along with doing the posi mod and billet caps. I hope they set them up correctly, since they supposedly know what they are doing. But, since I wasn't there I can't say for sure.

I got the LPE AAM 3.91's in my car now, and they are silent, the Richmonds are very noisy. But that is kind of a trademark of Richmond gears, Noisy.
The 3.91's should have come with this car from the factory. I love how they drive. I'm now running 2000 rpm's at 75 mph in 6th gear. With the stock gears I was at 1750 rpm's at 75 mph in 6th gear.

I have the 3.73 Richmond gears in mine and have no noise at all. They haven't given me any problems and nobody would know it's not stock (by listening) unless I tell them.

Mine is in an LS3, BTW. My only regret is that nobody had 3.91's available when I put them in. I don't want to go over 4.0 ratio.

In an auto, however, they would seem to be the sweet spot.

I have a set of Richmond 4:11's in...they are the new ones not the old 4:10's and jre's billet caps and posi mod...pfadt bushings and mgw shifter..they are real loud...
mainly due to the stiffer bushing transmitting the noise...the stiff bushings in the mgw don't help either...I did not expect them to be so loud...They are set up perfeclty..the pattern was spot on...looking for a stock 3:45 to put in for long trips or if I just want some Quiet or relief of so much shifting...as there is a ton of shift to do now...BUT THE ACCELERATION IS AWSOME!!! doing a $400 sound proofing to the rear of the car soon also maybe that will help...I hope so...

Sound deadening will not help. I tried it in my 4th gen. I ended up redoing the gears.

I have all the same mods to the rear end, billet caps, posi mod, pfadt's stiffest bushings, plus the Pfadt engine mounts. The 3.91's from LPE AAM are as quiet as stock.
