Got My New 2SS!
Took delivery Wednesday of my new 2018 2SS Coupe in Nightfall. Had an 8 hour drive home and could not be more happy. Drove it to work yesterday through the Redwoods and was grinning the entire time. Thanks to Camaro6 for everything I've learned so far that helped make my decision.
Options I got: A8, MRC, NPP, Nav, Black Bowties, Body colored blade spoiler, Low gloss black split-spoke wheels, black suede knee pads. Questions I have so far: 1. Early oil change and /or Diff fluid change - I've seen a lot of contradicting info, wait until indicated or change early? Any help is appreciated. 2. Continuing On Star - you guys think the $15/month is worth the remote service? Anyone use it that much? Was too excited to take good pics but here are a couple from the phone. |

Congrats on the car, as far as the oil change goes its up to you. Some people like to do it after break in for peace of mind but its not necessary. You do get 4 free oil changes, if you plan on keeping the car for many years I would do it but again not really necessary.
As for the Onstar, if you actually find yourself using the app to see your pressures, range etc then maybe keep it going. Onstar always gives out discounts if you call them up when your trails going to end or when your renewal is approaching so you can get good deals if you actually use it otherwise I would make sure your auto renewal is disabled once the trial is over if you gave them your info for the extended trial. I never used it on my Camaro or the Corvette and I took the extended trial both times. Enjoy the car! |

Awesome car, looks badass with those gloss black wheels, congratulations The options you chose are great, too.
As to oil changes, I'm following the 2018 track prep guide that came with the car, and it recommends the first oil change at 500 miles. I don't use OnStar much, although upon delivery I did purchase a security package that will continue after the trial, but only because it was a good deal for some extra peace of mind about theft and the like.

on star is also used for car security. if your car ever gets stolen onstar can track it and disable it as well. thats pretty good ease of mind

You WILL get answers "all over the place" on the oil change question. I buy New GM cars all the time, Always do the first oil chance at 3-4K miles, NEVER HAD A PROBLEM!!!!!!! IMO, anything earlier is a waste, If You are REALLY worried about it, change the FILTER at 1K or so, The OIL is fine. Just My.02 worth!!!!

Congrat's. Beautiful car. I REALLY like the simple, rear spoiler.
Enjoy! I'm closing in on 70 and have had a mess of cars these past years since 1966 when I started driving. My Camaro puts a smile on my face EVERY time I drive it. |

Congrats nice car!
Go to onstars website some insurance companies give discounts. It’s good if your car is stolen, if you go to work in the middle of the night you could get in a accident and not be able to get your cellphone from your pocket or if it goes flying in the car. Since airbags go off on all sides of the car these days onstar should come on when they go off. |
