Only 6spd manual in the new ZL1 1LE?????
I really like the look of the new ZL1 1LE, but no 10 spd auto will likely make my choice much easier. As much press as the new auto 10spd has had in the last few months, you would think it would be available. The Z06/Z07 has the 8spd auto available. Looks like my new ride may be a ZL1 with 10spd auto and an r comp tire upgrade with racing brake pads.

Maybe the new A10 isn't as track capable as they wanted. There really is no point in not including it on the ZL1 version, unless it was slower.

My theory is that the manual offered less heat generation, and decidedly lighter weight. Compared to an automatic ZL1...the ZL1 1LE will be 100 lbs lighter. That's significant! |

i think everyone is underestimating the M6. It is not your "grandmother's manual". The couple of folks that have driven mine love the gearing of the new M6 matched up to the torque band of the LT4. I can't shift as fast as the A10 but on most tracks I wont have to shift as much as the A10 will need to and that is where I think the M6 will shine.

Would be nice to know if there are differences between the M6. Hopefully it's the exact same.

It's ok if there are Camaros that do certain things better than your 10AT ZL1. No loser in the lineup. |

It just kinda irks me that some folks will arbitrarily dismiss that this A10 is properly fast. In the same sort of way that it bothers me how some folks pretend the M6 is a fossil. |

My guess would be that since the mission of this new ZL1/1LE is the track, they dumped the A10 to keep the heat soak down to maintain the LT4 power. Possible use the coolers elsewhere

Heat, weight, and for most tracks too many gears. Most tracks even with a 6 speed manual, you use 2 or three gears, at most 4 if there are some long straights.

In the past 100-some years, 3-pedals has gone from de facto to gradual inconvenience to tiny minority. The only reason they're still around is because of a tiny few that want the visceral experience. If anything in the past couple years they've become a rite of passage. There will always be the people that need to prop themselves up to feel better by discounting others. That's not what a healthy community is about. It's about celebrating choice and diversity. GM offering their 6th gen Camaro 1LE's, regardless of engine, with manual-only, means that 1LE = manual. That's their decision. None of that will stop an A10 ZL1 owner from adding 1LE bits as they see fit.

I think something that tends to get overlooked in these "discussions" has nothing to do with the times that the auto or manual is capable of. It is that cars with a manual transmission are just going to be able to run hard for longer at the track, whereas the automatic transmission is going to have a tendency to get hot and need to take a break earlier.
