It's doing well against the competition but desperately needed a redesign. As someone who has owned two of them, the pre refresh and refreshed model, there are many downsides to the current one that made me jump up to an Equinox. Here is a list:

-Outdated chassis
-Uncomfortable stiff ride
-Crappy transmission
-Engine lacks mid range torque
-Cup holders too low
-Narrow interior, lack of arm rest
-Tires too skinny
-Way too much road noise

...
...

The refresh improved the interior design/exterior fascias as well as infotainment system but that's about it. I am sure this redesign will address all those complaints considering how big of a jump Chevy took with the recent third gen Equinox that is selling a ton. If they address these issues I can see this taking over CUV segment as number 1 in sales.

It is not the same wheel base, nor same turn radius.

2 doors tend not to get shortened wheelbases these days. No reason to expect it to happen on the theoretical 2 door Tahoe you're picturing. And without shortening the wheelbase, you're probably not going to get a tighter turning radius either since whatever they do could just as easily be applied to a 4 door.

Should have put the Blazer on the Colorado chassis and the ZR2 suspension as the Trailblazer but that makes too much sense, especially with how popular off-roading is.

So the turning radius is tighter, everything else seems to be at a disadvantage though. Like everything else about it to me, defeats the purpose of it being an SUV why not just get regular cab truck or extended cab and put a cap on it. I mean different strokes for different folks, I just never understood why people loved 2 door full size SUVs.
