What tires should I be getting?
Not an expert on tires but what would be recommended for someone who daily drives the SS? I was looking at Michelin - Pilot Sport 4 since I have a costco membership but also looking at Pierelli's since they are a little bit cheaper than the michelins. Any other recommendations for good tires for daily driving would be great

The Michelin PS4S are generally the go to max performance summer street tires for many, but of course they're expensive. I was looking at them for my daily driven Camaro but ultimately went with Continental ExtremeContact Sport and have been happy with them. They're right behind the Michelins in dry performance, and have great ratings for wet conditions (as do the PS4S). They ended up being $1068(w/$100 off coupon) in my sizes, about $400 less than the Michelins.

Painted rims have to be treated very carefully so they don't get scratched and low profile tires are quite a bit more difficult to unmount and mount. Plus, you really want to be sure that you're getting the tires road force balanced. Check other local shops - any of them should be able to give you a competitive price against what Costco would offer them for. I used Costco pricing a couple of years ago to get a better deal on the same Michelin's for my truck from Town Fair Tire. Their corp offices had to kick $100 in (in the form of a check) to match the private rebate / sale price Costco was offering on top of the Michelin rebate at the time... |
