Tires??

Just bought some new wheels. 20x9 with +30mm offset and 20x11 with +43mm offset. My question is should I run a 275/35zr20 or a 285/35zr20 in the front and a 305/30zr20 or 315/30zr20 in the rear? I don’t want to rub or have to worry about anything.

The 275/35/20 is 0.4" taller than the 315. I'd do either one of these options:
  1. 275/30 front and 305/30 rear.
  2. 275/35 front and 315/30 rear.

#1 gives you a little shorter front tire than the rear, whereas with #2 they are the same diameter. The problem with #2 is that there are very few tire choices in the 315/30/20 size.

I think I’m better off to go with option #1..if I go with #2, will there be enough clearance so I won’t rub or anything?

With a 9” wide wheel, maybe 265/35/20 would be a better option. it would be much closer to stock diameter than a 275/30/20 tire would be.

There would be clearance with #2. However, there's no real benefit in running taller tires.

This is a good suggestion too. But given the 11" rear wheels, I was referencing 1LE sizing, and the 265/35 isn't closer to stock 1LE diameter. It is very close to the rear 305/30 diameter, though.

Stock 1LE tires are:
  • 305/30/20 rear - 27.2"
  • 285/30/20 front - 26.8"

The 285s are too wide for proper fitment on your 9" front wheels. If you stick with the 305/30/20 rears for your new wheels, then the diameters of the front options are:
  • 275/30/20 - 26.5"
  • 265/35/20 - 27.3"

Both of these sizes are approved for 9" rim width. Both will work fine on the car. It really comes down to whether you want a staggered look or a same-diameter look for your car. I don't see a wrong choice between the two front-tire options.

I’m trying to stay staggered

Okay, then that makes the decision for you. If you want staggered diameters then option #1 is the only one that gives you that.

275 is a lot of width for a 9" wheel. It may hold the bead, but it will likely look pinched and be more floaty to drive.

So I’m definitely staying with a 305/30 for the rear but would it be more beneficial for a 265/35 or 30 on the front? Otherwise I’m going to go with the 275/30

The 265/30 would be 26.3” in diameter, almost a full inch shorter than the rears. I don’t think I’d push the stagger that far. The 265/35 will be fine, but give you no stagger in diameter.

The 275/30 has a rim width range of 9-10”, so it’s within intended fitment in your situation. If you want stagger, that’s the size to go with.

Awesome, thanks for all the input

if you put a 275/30 tire up front the wheel gap will be massive. If you plan on lowering your car, it won’t be a problem. just something to keep in mind.

That tire is 26.5" tall, and the stock 1LE tire is 26.8". So that gap would only be 0.15" bigger than if he use the stock 1LE tire on a proper 10" wheel. So not a giant difference. I guess the non-1LE SS sits a little taller, so the gap is going to be bigger than on a 1LE. Here's a good set of pics of an SS with the 275/30/20 front tire. Keep in mind it has the 315/30/20 rear tires, so the gap in back is smaller than the OP's will be. The OP's gaps will be a little more even.
