Apparently govt is cracking down hardcore on shops when it comes to removing cats... 20k fine minimum and shutting down the business. I talked with ALL import AND domestic shops here (Wichita surrounding area, 50 mile radius lol) as well as 4 shops down in Dallas that actually used to do it... ALL said the SAME thing...

I am not going to remove my muffler as "reverting back to stock" just ain't gonna happen if you do IF I do not like the sounds or it's time to upgrade to the "ZL1". Basically I am SOL since like you... I want a hell of lot more growl. Not going to grab headers...

I did talk with Borla for a bit today (Ryan is such a GREAT guy @ their TN shop), and they do plan on coming up with an "xpipe" that we can clamp on but since no shop is going to cut the cats out.... Looks like I will have to cut the cats out and clamp on the Borla X pipe or whatever the piece they create will be / called. They will know better mid next month. Apparently all these new cars that are coming out, Chevy or Ford all have their axle/cat - back and xpipe as ONE piece which is just PITA...
I plan to do full headers with high-flow cats. Being in California, I have to do the installs on my own based on the same reason you outlined. Which I am 100% fine with. I might have to drive out of state to even buy them. But will most likely have a friend buy them and ship them over.

I am also working on a design for an H-Pipe over an X-Pipe. The H-Pipe design allows for a deeper sound.

I am going to leave the crimped exhaust area until I am done with the other upgrades, but might cut them out and craft quick disconnects to see how it sounds with and without the crimps.

Overall a lot to play with to get that desired sound. I do however wish GM would tell us what the crimping actually adjusted. Drone has never bothered me if that is what they resolved, I actually prefer a nice drone / rumble over silence.

Thanks. I have light colored eyes, and driving at night can get painful for me. Might have to get a DR's order to legally tint my windows darker. Also, whats a good safe % to tint the front window? 50%? don't want it blacked out, but would like a slight tint to give it a good look.

I did, secured white lettering, but might do white and black lettering. Not sure. The stock is what... Red and white? I need to see what looks good as white letting might be to much.

Tinting your front windows will void your insurance claims. I avoid it.

Here is 15% from the inside out...

Nice and dark from the outside

I think the Black looks better on the Red. I have to wait until the spring to do mine since its been so cold here the past few weeks.

Camera doesn't do justice. When I had 15% on my rear windshield it was DARK. Even in the day, especially in winter. That picture is deceiving.

I can see out my windows clearly, it all depends on the film you use. Some will appear a lot darker on the inside than others. You can even see in my review with the Vitesse Throttle controller how my Go-Pro pics up just how nice it is looking out the tinted windows.
