Traction vs Z06

I have a C7 Z06 M7. Was just curious if the ZL1 puts down the power better. My vette always seems to be in need of more traction. I'm still on stock run flats and plan to go to PS4s this fall which I'm hoping will help. I love my car but it's my daily driver and I like to have fun with it. Just hate feeling like 8m always worried about grip and therefore safety. I know it's a powerful car and you can't just floor it all the time. Just want it to be a bite sure footed

For daily driving the ZL1 is stiffer but much more fun IMO. Many folks here are very happy they traded to the ZLE from a C7. However, if your only gripe is traction - sticky tires on your Z06 might do?

Yeah, dont mind the stiffness. I've driven a regular ZL1 multiple times and the ZLE once. Compared to my old 370z nismo the ZLE is not stiff at all. Back when I drove them I wasnt focused on grip, was just enjoying the ride.

And I'm hoping PS4s will be enough for grip. But would hate to invest in tires to only find out it's not enough.

if you are looking for pure straight line traction without going to a DR is hard to beat the Toyo r888r’s. Run them on my ZLE and love them. Still great in the corners as well.

I feel mine puts the power down much better than my z06 did and more predictable when it does lose traction.

I had a 2017 Z06 w/ Z07 & M7.
Now I have 2018 ZL1 1LE.

My Z06 came with Cup2s (because it was Z07).
My ZL1 1LE came with GY R tires.

Stock for Stock the Z06 was way better when cold. The stock tires on my ZL1 1LE were very slippery when cold and took 20 minutes of spirited driving to warm up.

Once warmed up I'd say Z06 & ZL1 1LE are the same-ish.

However I now have the PS4s on my ZL1 1LE and they are much much grippier when cold than the Cup2 or GY R.
Warmed up I feel like there is no noticeable difference on the street.

I know I don't have a regular ZL1 but hopefully that helps with comparison for PS4s?

Good luck.

I went with the Grand Sport M7 for that reason. I found you just can't get the extra power down to the ground in the Z06 unless you are already at highway speeds. Even the GS will shred the 335 wide tires through 1st gear but it is very sure footed in 2nd and 3rd gear compared to a standard C7 Stingray. The shorter gearing in the GS with the M7 makes up for some of the lost torque you get from the supercharger but I really wish the Z06 was more like 550-600hp naturally aspirated vs. the supercharger.

The Camaro chassis and extra weight will help you make better use of the extra torque from the LT4. It also doesn't have that snap oversteer behavior that the Z06 tends to exhibit when at the limit.
