The dealer said I could use the Oil Life Indicator system. I wonder if anyone actually uses it?

Sorry for ruining the thread with this question, but how did you like the GT350? I don't see the GT350 in the same league as the the ZL1 (and definitely not a competition to the ZL1 1LE), even though on the used car market they're priced similarly. I would be curious to hear your thought on the GT350 vs an SS 1LE (since that's more of a direct comparison). I've watched the YouTube videos with these 2 cars, but I was wondering more from an owners perspective...

Change it. Even if it appears excessive, IMHO, a 500m oil/filter change is an inexpensive investment of time and money to defend against potential wear from metals and particulate generated by breaking in a new HP motor.

FWIW, I too use a heavy magnet drain plug and black holes.

IMO ZL1 and GT350 are in the same league.
I think most shoppers that are interested in these cars are looking for a daily driver they can also track every once in awhile, or just want a level-up muscle car.

ZL1 has way more power, but other than that, these cars aren't all that different. GT350 is N/A which is important to some people. ZL1 has an automatic which is important to some people.

I like both <3

I would change the oil dude. On a new car, it should be included in the purchase of the car anyway.

My 2019 A10 ZLE Manual does not state anything 500 Mile oil change. Unless I missed it

The only statement that changes the cycle is in the high performance manual, and it is regarding the type of oil that can be used while tracking 15W-50 and a requirement to go back to 0W-40.

I changed the oil in my car at 500 Miles and the oil that came out looked the same as the one that went in.

^^This... and that tracking info is only for the ZLE. 0W-40 is good for both street and track on the regular Z.

Another thing to note is 10 qts. That's a lot of oil and it takes a while to settle in the oil pan. Most dealers will try and add another 1/2 qt and once you sit over night you will be 1/2 qt too high.

My manual says to use the Oil Life Indicator. Unless there's a supplement or I missed something? Still going to change at 1k. I would rather err on the side of caution like others have mentioned. If the oil comes out looking nice and clean that's fine.
