I think they're probably doing it with all 2ss. I told the salesman who messaged me "6k? yah no. There are plenty of dealerships still willing to charge msrp."
he said "ill work on my boss and send you a picture when it arrives."

I actually just got one of the automated messages from their gm/owner.
Decided to reply and let him know I have no interest in paying a 6k markup.

The one I wanted was a pretty basic LT1, still a $6k markup. Odd, because it's the only dealer I talked to that wasn't selling at MSRP. Gotta be the proximity to NYC and Philadelphia. All the other dealers I talked to were in Upstate NY.

Just found out today that my original order that I dropped 2 1/2 weeks ago got picked up and is at 2000....no regrets switching dealers though, it might have never gotten picked up.

Had I understood or new this in Dec. 21, I might already be driving an new 2SS.

GM leaves buyers no choice.

This^^^^^^^^ I started in October of last year, putting deposits down and getting my order submitted by the dealer. Waited 5 months easy no allocation. Even reached out to JoeP, and got on his list for a few weeks. Ultimately i did the inventory search for 2000 miles, with my color, vert, auto, NPP. The rest I could work with. Found 4, 2 wanted over MSRP, and the other two were fair and pleasant. Vehicle is in Lansing awaiting transit.

I believe the times may have changed for ordering a custom vehicle, at least for the ending run of the American beloved Camaro

In a slightly similar situation; places my order back in Sep ‘21, Dealer told me he had allocation at the time. He only recently emailed me to let me know that he can push the order through if I remove PDR option. when I checked with the Chevrolet Chat Assistant, it shows the car has finally been accepted by GM (which should mean it’s 2000 right?) But, when I checked with Joe a week after, he showed 1100 status still. Maybe it’s just a delay..

Check with Chevy Chat & Joe again. Timing might have been funny, but I would think if Chevy Chat says the order was accepted ("Your vehicle order has been accepted by General Motors and is moving toward the production process.") then it must be at least at 2000.

If you go to https://www.chevrolet.com/support, you should be seeing a little "chat bubble" icon in the lower right corner. Click on that. It will initially be an automated chat system, but choosing the right selections will put you in touch with an actual human

Been a while since I updated this saga. I mentioned earlier in the thread that my original order (that I cancelled with my first dealer) got picked up about 2 weeks after my new one already had a TPW. Then, ironically, after the factory shutdown my new order got moved out and my old one get a TPW ahead if the new one. I wasn't sure if maybe the dealer re-configured it because it didn't make sense that it would get moved ahead if it's the exact same car in the same upstate NY region. But, sure enough it got built this week with my exact configuration and it's already at 4300 and showing "In Transit" on Chevy's website.

Maybe they really did get a "regional rep" or whatever they said to push the car quickly.....but I doubt it. Probably just weird luck.
So I guess I'll have a twin out there. And I suppose if something happens and my new order (TPW 5/23) doesn't get built, or gets stolen from the lot, or some other crazy BS, then I could always go back to the first guys and tell them I want the car after all. Then again at the rate that order is moving, it already be to the dealer and sold.....
