Noise in my whipple sound clip

Anyone else have this problem and or do you know what it is. I found other clips on you tube of the same noise. None say why it is. I already pulled it back off.

Normal gear case chatter...it gets better with mileage.

Do you have any back lash when spinning the pulley back and fourth ? The stock blower has none.

I don't recall there being much but I didn't have a stock LT4 charger to compare too...I do know several others including myself have a similar noise at low rpm idle conditions but if you Rev it up, the noise goes away. In the manual it states that it's normal under those conditions. The noise becomes less noticeable after you put some mileage on it.

There is another vid from a builder who had two CT’s builds side by side. One quiet and the other noisy. Hope it’s not normal. Sounds like shit.

Doesn't sound normal to me, the other white one sounds normal and doesn't shake. I could be wrong. Hope you get it figured out.

My Magnuson does the same thing, it started after 10k miles. Magnuson even swapped the core components out, it was better for a week or two, but came back. Magnuson, my shop nor Ted could really give me an idea of what was going on. I have resided in the fact that it just sounds like that, a bit unfortunate. I am now probably at 10k with that sound, I haven't noticed anything negative other than it sounds the way that it does.

That is the exact same sound I called ya'll on last summer.

He is just saying that because it's a Whipple. The fact is the aftermarket PD blowers make noise...some more then others. I heard a Maggie car that made a similar noise.

The black one in the video is the engine shaking...likely from the tune and/or cam. Different pulley, rpm, and load can change the sound that the charger makes at idle.

I can make mine noisier by lowering the idle to 500rpm, I can also make it almost silent by raising the idle to 700rpm

Again, if the noise disappears with increased RPM then its normal. That is what Whipple is going to tell you.

Someone else said raise the idle to 800. I sent these to whipple and waiting to hear back. I already pulled it off and put the stock one back on. If this type blower noise is common why doesn’t the stock blower have this problem.

The noise didn't get better with mileage though. Some cold starts its loud, sometimes it's not. The same with after I have driven a bit, sometimes when I stop and idle, I can hear it loudly, other times it is quiet.

At any case, I am around 10k miles with the noise and the Magnuson is performing quite well. So hopefully that puts him at ease some.

Sounds like normal gear chatter/rotor noise. Im sure the blowers get looser as mileage stacks up. I wouldnt worry about it unless its really knocking or not making the correct boost.

Because the much smaller lt4 spins a lot faster in general so it generates more load on the gearing even at 600rpm... Look at the pulley difference. The Whipple with a 3.5 pulley at stock idle is barely spinning to the point there is very little load on the gears, hence why you hear the gear noise at low rpm only.

Makes sense. I just got off the phone with whipple and they are saying it’s normal. I ask about turning the idle up and they said it won’t make any difference because idle bounces around a little. They said I can send it in and they will go through it. I ask if everything was found to be ok is there a way to quite it down and the answer was no. They also said because the cases are so much larger the noise is amplified. Still think it sounds like shit normal or not.
