CAI turned on CEL after reinstallation, but never came on the first time I installe
As the title says, I’m puzzled on why this could be. The first time we installed it everything was fine and worked like a charm, but after reinstalling it the code just suddenly popped up. We installed everything correctly and made sure everything’s nice and tight.
I didn’t have time to clean the MAF sensor, unplug the battery and drive around again yet. I also don’t know what the code is (yet). Is the CAI an issue to the engine now? Really confused on why the CEL turned on after being fine the first time. |

If you disconnected the MAF for the install it will trigger the CEL for a short time. drive it around for a few miles and see if it goes out.

When disconnecting sensors like the MAF sensor, put the car to "sleep" first and you will avoid this.
1. Open the hood 2. Close the hood latch (cover it and make yourself a note to unlatch it before shutting the hood!) 3. Unplug anything inside the car (camera, radar detector, OBDII scanner) 4. Shut the car doors and lock the car 5. Put the key fob far away from the car (20+ feet) 6. Wait 15 minutes 7. Work away |

Or just loosen one 10mm nut at the trunk battery cable and slide it off.

Yep, just loosen the one nut in the trunk, slide cable off, do work, slide cable back on and tighten nut.

Perhaps it is different on this vehicle, but for every previous car of mine that reset all of my preset radio stations. Not interested. This is a simple process that allows you go grab some coffee or have a beer while you wait that 15 minutes, and prepare for the job at hand.

Unless your really,.. really... slow or something.. I'm talking like 2-3 months slow.. Some may feel inconvenienced by "re indexing" window position though. BUT, It's as simple as: roll down, roll up window, done.

this may be a help here and the other cai post. you should really have a scan tool if your are going to mod. I have the ODB link MX w/blue tooth. Its a good reader and re-setter and it will tell you in fact that you have a permanent DTC, diagnostic trouble code, as referred to also. BUT where I am going is check your MAF flow g/s, its in the free Torque app. I destroyed my MAF when the cable just popped off while running the engine. it had 0 reading. check yours and go from there. You cannot turn off a permanent DTC until you fix the problem. Some will reply that you "can disable the alert" but the dtc will still exist and be readable by the DOT at sticker time. Plus your are into a $700 solution to just shut off a CEL. I honestly do not know what people do at emissions inspection time, like replace all bolt ons with the OEM stuff for the day? Maybe some one can educate me on that part. GM really moved the bar way up where us driveway enthusiasts can't do much -legally- i am afraid.
