Aw, c'mon, let the guy the guy tell a tale of a street 'encounter.' Sometimes you go the speed limit but you just get there really quick.
I owned the LT 45th before my SS. Best freakin' factory paint job I'd ever seen. I thought it was pretty quick too...in 1st and 2nd. The lack of torque - whether or not that did anything to or for ET, was apparent in the other 4 gears. (I never tracked it for comparison) Had I not been rented an SS I'd probably still be driving it. Well, the wife would. She doesn't like the SS as much.

It certainly doesn't have the torque the TA had but the car is quicker in every way. I've owned 6 LS1 fbody cars 2 Camaros 4 TA's. None were as quick, more power, more torque, more noise out the exhaust but not as quick. Sorry if that frosts some of you but No contest, doods can say this or that but I'm experienced and know a QUICK car when I drive one. I think its funny the guys with the v8 cars are the negative posters...........maybe feeling a little inadequate?
Comparing this v6 to the 2010 up v8 Camaros is a completely different thing. There the v8 is much quicker no contest. |

Glad you're enjoying the new car. I imagine the sensation of power will wear off a bit as you get used to it. Can't argue that it's a decently quick car though. Plenty of power for most any reason.
I had sort of the opposite feeling when I got my SS, couldn't help but think "this thing should be faster", at least on the street. Just because of the noise it makes, the large size of it, the strong style, etc. Has a lot of bark, I want it to bite just as hard. On the track (road course) power is just fine but I wanted more grip, more brakes, better gear ratios, and less weight haha. Not asking for much right? Number of cylinders just doesn't matter in my world so all this V8 V6 I4 nonsense is just dumb hot air to me. Being an average track day driver can keep you very humble.

Posted on another site:
I recently bought a 2018 V6 Camaro A8 and ran it at the track this last weekend just to see what it could do. With a horrible 2.2 60ft I ran 13.8 at 104. What was interesting though, I started chatting with a guy who was running his stock LS1 Z28 A4. He said his best that day with a 2.0 60ft. was 13.5 at 104. Both are bone stock cars here (his had a lid he said) and both on street tires. Basically if I cut the same 60ft. as him, we probably would have had the same exact ET. Our trap speeds were identical. Same day at the same track, so it doesn't get anymore fair than that. So if my car has been tuned etc who knows maybe I,m so not so wrong in what I feel. Keep in mind the TA's were quite a bit heavier than the Z28 Camaros too. Last edited by 152LTRockin; 04-18-2019 at 09:00 AM. |

I recently drove my coworker's '18 V6 Camaro and while it was pretty quick, there's no way in hell it was faster than the '99 T/A I had. Although I did sell that car 15 years ago so there's a chance my butt-dyno wasn't as finely tuned back then.

Well here the thing when my neighbor bought his 2017 Camaro I still had my TA WS6. I drove his car and I said to him right away it feels just as fast as the my TA only it feels much quicker from a stop than the TA.

dont be upset.its just an average 6 cylinder automatic camaro.mine feels about as fast as my 1966 tempest did with a 400,cam,headers,and judge 4 barrel.at least it leaves the stoplight fast,im sure the 6 speed auto and wide rear tires that wont go up in smoke behind the 6 banger dont hurt it at all.it would probably be a different story from an 80 mph roll, but im retired from that kind of stuff on the street.

All I know is the quickest bone stock LS1 car ran a 12.9 iirc. I've never seen a single V6 Camaro come anywhere close to that. The old A4 needed just 3 simple mods to run hard. Good tune, 3600ish stall converter and tires.
