"Cadillac CT5’s Super Cruise technology will be available in calendar year 2020 on select models."
Well, I'll stand corrected that the CT5 will have Super Cruise, but exactly when seems still vague....Available in calendar year 2020 could possibly be a 2021 model built in 2020 debut for Super Cruise...Early adopters hopefully will not get caught unaware that their car may not have SC installed or assume that it is available when it's not....Either way, I guess you guys were technically correct after all about Super Cruise... Why wouldn't it be available initially?.... |

Autoblog has a brief interview with the chief engineer:
https://www.autoblog.com/2019/04/18/...hief-engineer/ He answers questions about driving dynamics, the revised alpha platform, the styling, the newton-meter badging, and the differences between some of the trims. He was asked (but didn't really give an answer) about a 'future variant' & manual transmissions.

"Cadillac’s powerful 3.0L Twin Turbo V-6 is available on Premium Luxury and Sport models, rated at an estimated 335 hp (250 kw) and 400 lb-ft of torque (542 Nm)5."
For a twin turbo V-6 isn't that a relatively weak hp number?....Heck, my FWD V-6 non turbo in my Impala has 305 HP.....just sayin' maybe torque is up but hp number for a v-6 twin turbo seems low.... |

The architecture of the LF3 is based on the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFX, but with almost entirely all-new components. The LF3 is the most powerful V6 ever from General Motors, it is also the most power-dense six-cylinder engine in the midsize luxury segment. In the CTS Vsport, the LF3 makes 420 horsepower (313 kW) and 430 lb.-ft. (583 Nm). In the XTS Vsport, the engine makes 410 horsepower (306 kW) and 369 lb.-ft. of torque (500 Nm). All figures are SAE-certified.
Read more: http://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/gm-en...#ixzz5m1xonMD6 The above is what came to mind....the LF3....V-6 twin turbo 410-420 hp....The v6 in this new Caddy must be a different animal, and less powerful... |

Well...it is a different animal considering its just a 3.0 versus a 3.6 V6 engine which is the engine most here think about, and the one used in the LF3 and LF4.
Sure...335 seems a tad low, considering the Camaro's stock V6 3.6 makes 335 HP, but not too bad when you consider a NA 3.0 V6 engine likely wouldn't be good for any more than 250 - 275 HP, but I don't really know of any run of the mill 3.0 V6 engines for reference. But that torque number sounds excellent to me. I'd love to have that engine in my Colorado.

The CT5 and CT6 versions have the same torque output. the only difference is hp. And it's a big difference.

In case there's any question of how GM is positioning CT5, as well as whether or not there really is a CT4 (still a few non-believers) here is a slide Cadillac showed the press (courtesy of AutoBlog).

That's good info, Martin. Still, I don't see the point of positioning cars in a segment that appears to be dictated by BMW and calling a dog TT v6 a performance option....Segments aside, compared to what could be in the CT5, its a gyp. Any Cadillac shopper can see it's not worth it. |

For the record, this is NOT based on any insider knowledge. Based on how we expect the 3-Series variants to roll out, this would be how Cadillac could match them with the CT5. If I was "King of Cadillac" it's the approach I would take. Given how my prognostication went wrt XT6, it will probably never happen
