Maybe try sticking some mechanical fingers down the pipe and try to rip it out? Some of those have large fingers that really grab. I dont know if its possible.

Not sure of your budget but upgrade your exhaust in stages. I did Cat back cherry bomb extremes. Loved it but after a while it wasn't loud enough and there was definitely drone at lower rpms, later I did long tube headers and high flow cats. The HP increase was awesome and the sound was insane. But the drone was worse. So I replaced the Cherry Bombs with Borla Attak. I have had this set up for a few years now and I love it. I can lower the rpms to reduce noise and there is zero drone and when I get on it its sick. I took a video with cherry bombs on, with no exhaust and then with the Borla's. I'll post it in a second.

With the Cherry Bombs


No muffles:


With the Borla's


I filmed all three when I was switching the mufflers. Same camera phone and same distance so its easier to compare. I think the Cherry Bombs had more base, sounded throater, almost meaner. But the drone was too much for me. With no exhaust it sound like a real race car, would love to have that option but its illegal and im sure I'd go deaf after a while. The Borla's Atak, IMO are mean as hell but when cruising I get now drone.

Probably will be more easy than it looks, I can just cut the upper middle section where is the wool and push it... The problem with the H ou X pipe is the AFM, it will sound awfull.

Putting LT headers with the stock catback probably will sound how I want, but now I cant tune the ECU (warranty) to remove AFM and turn off the CEL.

This is the answer, or even simpler is the Solo Axle Back exhaust with the J/pipes.
It's a muffler delete exhaust but may be a bit loud for your Dad though. I bet I'm
older than him- Love mine on my L99 and NO drone at any RPM.
