I work in the oil industry and the API regulations for elastomers are 5 year shelf life maximum. It is not just UV but also temperature and humidity variations and ozone that is created by all electrical equipment in the area. I would be very suspicious of tires made in 20-5 unless your plan was to put the new tires on and go straight to the track or just to light them up doing burnouts. I would hate to think what would happen to the Car behind you on the track if the tread would delaminate. I would also be concerned about airing up to 44 psi as recommended in the performance supplement if planning sustained speeds above 140 mph.

Mine were delivered yesterday and the date stamp was 4216. Meaning the 42nd week of 2016 or the last week of October 2016.

I would be too chicken to buy old rubber. I looked at them yesterday and the rears are sold out but fronts still had inventory. I bet that good "new rubber" smell was gone.

I want the Michelins anyway coming up this spring to pass state inspection.

Still had the new rubber smell, maybe not as overpowering as brand new but still there.

I just called Tire Rack and did not purchase these tires. These are older tires and there has been 2 revisions to the tire since these were made. While they are GY F1 SC3 tires, these are like a version 1.0. It is my understanding they are getting new stock on version 3.0 (2 revisions updated).

Mine are not worn out. I have a few other concerns right now (see the thing in the Gulf with the X painted on Lafayette, LA) and I did not pull the trigger.

Things may change and I may find information explaining the differences and I may be high and dry, next week.

Yep, I'm with you. Had them in my cart...technically I can get through this season on my current tires so if bought these they'd have to be put on next spring. This pushes the "shelf life" of 2015 prod even further. If I needed tires right now, I'd would have bought them. Nice ~$450 savings

I must have gotten lucky because I didn't get 2015 production tires. The ones that were delivered were October 2016 production.

Maybe the "2015 Production" in the advertisement means the year of design not actual manufacturer date.

I'm in Phoenix and bought some ZL1 1LE takeoff's recently for track use and I'm storing them in my house in a closet due to the high temps during summer (especially in the garage). The R and non-R versions of these tires DEFINITELY have a shelf life, you should probably use them up within two years of manufacture date to get the most out of them.

I went ahead and ordered a set. Took one day to receive them. Two were produced in 2016 and two in 2017. They still look, feel, and smell new. Great deal.

Mine were dated 5117 and 1418, so I am not worried about "shelf life". And I think anyone would take those tires in a heartbeat.

What does... “ they definitely have a shelf life” mean? What facts do you have to back up that statement.
