The only way a fram filter will void the warranty is one of two scenarios.

1. The OEM offers free of charge the oem filter.

2. They can prove that the filter caused the damage.

#1 is not applicable, and #2 should be requested in writing and is very unlikely

I base my choice off availability and this site
http://www.gmtruckcentral.com/articl...lterstudy.html

Fram Ultra (which is a step above the extended guard tested on that site, which bested even Royal Purple due to capacity and price) is what I use. That AC Delco on there is garbage. Hopefully that's not the same AC Delco filter used by the OEM ( though i get the feeling it is).

"Please visit www.pennzoil.com/rebate for the list of participating locations."

You will not find Wal-Mart listed.

Indeed, it looks like even auto zone isn't participating.

This deal just became a nothing rebate. Still buying the oil at Walmart though.

Not listed but still honored, i bought 4 of the big jugs of the Ultra Platinum from Walmart online and filled their form and i have received my $40 rebate 1 month after filling it out.
You select "Other" in the participating choice box.

It's not being simple minded, if an engineer says use "X" filter I'm not going to use "Y" filter to save a couple bucks. The only other thing I will consider will be an OEM or OES replacement. This isn't a Honda Civic, if you plan to do any performance driving making sure you have adequate oil pressure is crucial. Show me where Fram has tested THEIR filter in OUR car on the track with vary G forces and was able to maintain adequate pressures. It may or may not but I am not willing to risk it. I trust the people who built and tested it.

except when it comes to consumable items like filters, far more comes into play than simply performance for OEM's. They have to work well, but not too well that they need to be replaced frequently since they know people will do them once a year if that instead of the recommended amount of time. Same reason why their air filters are paper.

the AC delco's in the store are like 3-4 dollar garbage filters. Not sure if the OEM uses the same but they've been cut open and it's no different than the el-cheapo fram filters for roughly the same price.

In the FWIW folder, I had a discussion with a Jiffy Lube tech who sees used oil filters all day long and he says most are in by-pass mode when they come off the cars.

You need to do research. There are a lot of different Fram filters and the top of the line ones are WORLDS better than the AC Delco on the car. Not even a question about that.
