NX LT4 Charger lid Vs. Ported Charger?

The NX LT4 lid claims "The improved airflow design of the lid increases up to 25HP by itself and has machined ports so you can add nitrous and / or water methanol injection systems later if desired."

The Kong LT4 charger porting service adds 25-30HP.

Considering the cost/time difference to uninstall/install, am I missing something here?

I have the NX lid. Looks cool, significantly increases blower whine and I suspect it does aid in cooling. I did not experience any noticeable seat of the pants difference as far as throttle response or power, so I question whether there is a 25 HP gain at any point along the curve. I’d get the lid for the bling and the whine, not the HP.

Possibly with the added HP from a tune...other than that, a lid vs. a full port job from Kong or anybody else is worlds apart.

I have talked to Redline people and they only use Kong ported product.

They take yours and get it right. Even a nice box for it.

The NX lid is not equal to a Kong (or another competent shop's) ported blower.

Because porting the snout and the blower do more to increase airflow by removing restrictions on the inlet side. The lid would straighten the flow some and add more volume above the blower. It might add some real hp to a ported blower with overdrive pulleys running higher boost. Haven't seen anyone say they noted much performance improvement from the lid by itself.

Regarding the NX Lid. You might notice a slight difference on a '15 or '16 but I seriously doubt you'll see anything on a '17 or newer LT4. The '17 and newer already benefit from the factory redesigned taller lid as well as slanted intercooler bricks.

Be interesting if somebody did a dyno before and after with a NX lid to see if there is any power increase if any

Nitrous Express claims only 10hp with the 2017 or newer LT4s.

Question

How much taller is the lid compared to the stock lt4 lid? I’m wondering if it would fit on my lt4 SC swapped SS.
