I always use K&N oil filters because the internals are All metal. No cardboard.

Do you have a link to the one you use?

I go with ACDelco PF64. It's the OE filter. Here's the amazon link.

Great thanks guys! Think I will go with the 0W-40esp oil that is now the factory fill in 19+ and the OEM filter. Seems like the best route for dd and track use

I use the ACDelco PF64. Have never had a filter related issue with the PF filters in nearly 40 years and well over 500,000 miles in various GM vehicles. Worked at a GM dealer for over 15 years and never saw any problems other than someone double gasketing when the old gasket stuck to the block.

Heard the Wix filters are suppose to be real good and to stay far away from the Fram filter.

I've been using Valvoline 5W-40 MST for DD and track with PF64, no need to change oil. Blackstone analysis has been perfect. If NAPA doesn't have it on sale, then the local Wal-Mart stocks it at a low price

I've been using Motul X-clean 5w40 Dexos2 for over a year now, including 8 track days last year, without issue. Though I don't have a UOA to show.

Modern Engine and MST are not the same oil. Modern Engine was developed to combat against carbon buildup, a common issue with gas direct injection (GDI). Great product, and is what I'd run if I wasn't tracking my car. MST is a Dexos 2 approved product and is what I use. I'm a big Valvoline fan haha

Per the reply above these are 2 different Valvoline oils.
MST Dexos2 5w40 is approved for our cars specifically.
Or any 0w40 Dexos2 - per the manual. Both are good for both dd and track use. However, is somebody dd only then manual approves any 5w30 Dexos1 full synthetic, which is much cheaper.

Personally i use MST plus OEM filter per the manual and replace the latter with each oil change (also per the manual btw). Ciao!

I think you got Dex1Gen2 as m1 doesn't make a 5w30 that's Dexos2. You want a 40wt for track as you are running elevated oil temps which thin the oil out.

Nice!

I got a 97 as well but it's 4dr miles not so sure but it says 165k
