M6 Clutch Questions

What sort of power can our stock clutch take? I will be pumping about 600whp in a month. Car has about 13k miles currently. Been driving stick my whole life so I don't abuse the thing. How much life would one expect out of normal driving and 40 roll runs from this stock clutch?

Where can I find decent replacement clutches (not looking to break the bank at 1600-2000) It's a daily driver so I'm almost not interested in a full blown On/Off but i'll compromise for cost if that is the major difference. I looked around online and am not sure what I'm digging through. Seems like not too many kits are out yet.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Couldn't tell you sir but mine is down getting a major build s we speak and I'm gunna probably be north of 710 and I'm using a new (2016/2017) Z06 lt4 clutch bc I got it for free lol. Don't know if it's much better than stock but I'll let you know in a few weeks how it does.

Ah nice deal on that clutch. Free.99

I guess the market needs some more time before it's easy to google up parts for these guys.

Spirited street driving and roll races won't be too hard on it...but drag racing from a dig will. If you are still on street tires, they will be your weak link and your clutch will survive (though not as long as it would at stock hp). If you start putting on drag radials or slicks, your clutch just became the weak link in the drivetrain and you know what that means...

We've seen the stock clutches last a while with that power, but like 4x said, drag racing will wear it out much quicker. We offer our dual-disc DYAD clutch for the 6th gens which has extremely good driveability for the street, but can handle extreme power levels and abuse at the track. The clutch components are much lighter than stock, and it comes paired with a new lightened steel flywheel for an overall weight savings of 16lbs! This significantly improves acceleration, and allows the engine to rev much faster. If you would like any more info on the DYAD kit, feel free to shoot us a PM anytime!

Resurrection!

Now that it has been some time... Anyone able to find the OEM replacement options?

I noticed Centerforce and ACT are in the market at this moment, but is GM even selling replacement clutches for these guys yet?

I'm going to try and set about 1800 or so aside to get one of these awesome aftermarket sets in, but I'm not sure I'll make it before this one wears out in the forseeable future. May just replace with stock if I can find one this time around. Has anyone been able to get their hands on those? Mind shooting me a link?

I'm no where near needing one, but that's good info for the future! Zl1 clutch would probably be the same

Im needing a clutch but I don't need one to handle 1300 ft lb. I'm at 600 hp to the wheels. I don't want to spend 1800.00 either. but I would like it to come with an aftermarket flywheel also. any suggestions?

ZL1 clutch. Somehow cheaper than SS clutch and fits according to a few people here. Worst case just sell the clutch unused if it seems like it doesn't. IIRC its like 300 bucks?

Going cheap on a clutch is a mistake. There is nothing new going here then with the 6060 in the LS cars. Track use will kill it pretty quick...guys use to think the LS7 clutch was a good replacement...it's engagement is smooth but it's heavy and slows the car down. That being said I wouldn't take the time to pull the trans and install a ZL1 clutch if you are going to drive the car hard Contact companies like Mantic and see what they have to offer. Remember the clutch is vital part that helps transfer the engine power to the rear...you can make all the power in the world, if the clutch is slipping then you ain't winning.

ZL1 clutch will not slip on 600hp bruv. He said he is 600hp and doesn't plan on going any wilder.

No one needs to drop a grand on a clutch if there is a 300 dollar version that is factory rated to hold that type of power.
