Dealer pre-delivery short-cuts...Pieces not installed...>>

While I was very happy with my dealer's cosmetic prep of my car (Jeff Gordon Chevrolet in Wilmington NC), I started looking things over more closely in the following week.

There was a large plastic bag in the trunk... It included the stock mats, the front spoiler pieces, Front plate mount, the Track brake cooler ducts, and two large plastic covers.
None of this installed on the car. I started looking around, particularly to find a home for the large covers. Every underside shot of a Camaro has shown the rear lower control arm bare. Turns out these covers go there, held on with 4 pop pins.
You may or may not have them depending on how much attention the PDI dept paid to their instructions. If you don't have them, I'd complain. The reason being is that lower suspension pieces are usually the first to chip, peel and rust from road debris. These covers protect that area. Probably a little aero benefit as well. Check your cars!

Just to clarify, the Track Day brake covers are just for that though, they are technically supposed to be put on before and taken off after track...

At least from what i read in the manual.

It must be a NC thing. My dealer in Fuquay royally screwed up the front brake pieces. I had to change the lower control arm.

Yeah, that is explained pretty thoroughly in the manual, but as we've seen here, few read it!...

At least one car here showed the Track day air ducts installed at delivery (doh)...

Even more reason to get under there and look...

Yeah I only had the brake ducts in the trunk and was instructed by dealer that they were only used for track events.

They are probably fine to use but I think the issue is the duct hangs down and you don't wanna hit or snag it on somthing and ruin it for when you actually do need it at the track one day.

They are meant to work in concert with the smaller splash shields. I would assume, that if used on the street, more water and gunk would be directed toward the rotors and reduce street performance. Whereas track use will benefit from the greater cooling and water/grit not as critical as conditions are usually dry/clean.

From the manual (which seems to reflect that):

After a track event, remove the tall deflector and the small splash shield and reinstall the original. Failure to reinstall the original parts may lead to corrosion, loss of output, noise, premature brake pad and rotor wer, reduced high speed wet braking, and damage to the tall deflector

Wow they really do...I wonder if they are highly necessary for the track or not.

I mainly do autocross so I don't think I need them for that. But I try to mix in 1-3 track days a year so I guess I'd have to do it for those or be happy with shortened sessions.
