Painted Engine covers

So i finally finished my little project of painting my engine cover. Eventually i will paint the middle piece gloss black. Took a lot of sanding and filler primer to make it smooth. Garnett red is a hard color to spray since it is a 2 basecoat paint

Looks good. It is definitely a lot of sanding and filling to get it smooth. Did you have any problems sanding all of the lettering off? I sanded around them and it was a pain in the ass.

It was hard to sand the letters. I started with 80 grit and should of used 36 grit instead. Would if been faster

I went with sanding them off cause i thought it would be easier and look better. I love the smooth look and you cant get the smooth look unless you sand off the letters

I found a trick. Sand around the letters the best you can. Paint the entire cover and the letters. There is a guy on ebay that sells letters that go right on top of the word CAMARO in black or red

You can get it smooth and leave the letters but it is very time-consuming working around the letters. I like the raised look but if I had to do it again I would probably sand them off because it would be easier and it would also help with the dipping.
