3 of 11601876 as per bulletin.

Each part number consists of new 2 new longer bolts as well as a new clamp/retainer.

Wouldn't you need 6 then to do both sides?

That's getting pricey to fix a GM screwup.

Should we be expecting a TSB from our dealer to get this done? I would hate to see this happen to someone going down the road at 70mph and it gives out and someone gets hurt over a known issue. I can see the lawsuits now.

Any idea what the torque specs should be? I'd like to lock these down next time I'm under my car.

Its only on the differential side, the hub side has a single big nut.

I went and checked the torque spec on my bolts, the driver side was marked properly but the passenger side was not I wonder what happened there

But I set my torque wrench to 40 ft/lb and every single bolt moved so I then gave it roughly 45 deg on each and repaint penned them.

Definetly advise everyone to check the torque spec they are E12, ill make a separate thread about this specifically.

Not sure if I have the TSB bolts or not but I will mention it for sure when I go to the dealer.

The length of the bolt isnt the important part, its that they increased the threaded portion by almost 40%!

For what reason? Were they too short to fully engage all of the female threads available?

For the price of the GM bolts I can buy the tools to drill and safety wire the existing bolts.

Looking at the diagrams again the thread starting location is moved .5mm forward.. Not really sure on that one.

Old Bolt Length

Old Thread

New Bolt Length

Nominal 57.9

New Thread Length

Thread is 7mm longer but the Bolt is 7.5mm longer
FYI drilling through 10.9 by hand isn't very easy even with a jig, make sure to buy plenty of drill bits and extra bolts in case the drill bit breaks inside. Best way to drill them will be with a Mill if you have access to that.

Also the existing bolts are TAY fasteners so you should replace them anyways.

The bolts on my car have about 3-4 threads showing which is above the 2 threads showing rule of thumb, You can measure the over length to see if I have the new or old bolts though.

Curious as to when/if GM made the change on the production line and if it varies at all depending on if you have the regular diff or eLSD.

Screw that then. Any chance of finding suitable replacement bolts already drilled?

Does this apply to the V6 as well? Or is it just the V8. Mine has limited slip, but not the E-diff you are talking about.
