I pretty much daily drive my 1LE and hydroplaning was a constant issue. In the dry the GY S3 were amazing, handling was phenomenal but took time to warm up, i was able to get just over 13k. If you are going to daily drive, cant beat the Michelin PS4s; quick to grip-little warm up time, no trammeling, hydroplaning and 60-80mph in rain confidently with absolutely no problems. BTW price is $100 cheaper at discounttire.com and there is a $70 rebate on a set of four tires.
As a fellow South Floridian, you’ll find me over in the right lane during heavy rain going 45 with the stock GYs. After this set, I’ll be switching to some pilots. The pucker factor on the stock tires is just too high since it rains without warning here.

I just ordered a set from Discount Tire and will have them installed in a couple of weeks. When I bought the car used, the dealership installed a set of SuperSport ZP run-flats up front and the rear stock GY's must have just scraped by passing the used car inspection. Anyhow, I'll sell the low mile ZP's and am going with stock sized Pilot Sport 4S's all the way around.

Had a bit of a cluster trying to price match Tirerack and they got into the ballpark, so I went for it because after 30 minutes of dicking around, it wasn't worth haggling anymore. lol!

Now to find a good place to do a final burnout.

I switched from Goodyears to the MPSS on my 15 ZL1. I'll be switching my 17 to Michelins here very shortly.

With as good as the Michelin Pilot Super Sport is, I’m very interested in trying out the 4S. If they provide less ultimate dry grip than the factory Goodyears, I don’t think it will be much. When I first put the PSS on my 335i, I was able to run a bunch of 3.7 second 0-60s. That’s more impressive when you realize it was only a 255/35/18 and through an open differential.

I have no doubt the 4S is a better all around tire than the Goodyear. The question is what (if anything) it’ll give up in acceleration or cornering grip.

Is the 4S a runflat? I'm still so nervous about losing the runflats without a spare. I may have to order one of those spare kits from Modern Spare. There are several times I've had to slap on a spare because I had no other options than call a tow and then I'd be down a car until a new tire was shipped. I don't know how reliable those air pump/goo kits are. I've heard tire shops won't repair a tire with goo in it.

question.....I've wanted to use the line lock, but haven't wanted to ruin a set of tires. Now that I'm getting new tires, I'm debating on trying it out.
Would yall risk it with this situation? I will still need to drive across town to the tire shop after...

And still driving it everyday....
3000miles since, no issues
(Not tracking it with the repair, will change it before track)

I would not. Not only could that catch on something potentially, but it could shoot out and hit someone/thing..

Went from stock, to Conti ExtremeContact Sport, back to stock, and currently on MPSS4S. I daily my 1LE here in South FL. I'll never return to stock. I may return to Conti's if I want the cheaper tyre with matched performance and slightly louder road noise- but I'll stay with these MPSS4S until the next generation is out. I thought Michelin was all overpriced hype, like a luxury performance car.. I was wrong. Worth it.
