Trimming a 12 rib belt to fit my 10 rib THPSI pulley system
I've been searching for 10 rib belts that work on my THPSI pulley combination, this includes a 9.25 lower and 95 MM Greptec Upper. I found some at a Iowa business but they couldn't handle the upper PSI boost levels. Joshinator will tell you that for sure. So, I've been running a 8 rib 91.02 length Gates Green Belt since last year, works great but looks tiny on the 10 rib upper. I just couldn't find anything that worked, I remember that Jason Zl1Atlanta had the same issues last year so I started looking at 12 rib belts that I could trim two ribs off of to make it a 10 rib. Bought a couple but they were to short. Finally found that was just a 1/16 longer than my current belt, this belt is 91.14 so this would still keep it nice and tight so I wouldn't have any slip at my current level which is only 11 to 11.5 psi. Never had any slip with the one I have on the logs so I gave it a try. Just need a new blade in your razor knife and about 15 minutes of time. The outcome was perfect. So if your having this issue hopes this helps you figure out how to get the almost correct belt you need, the rest is up to you. While I was at it decided to throw in a new set of NGK plugs and SE wire. Love their stuff.
8 rib 10 rib Speed Engineering 12 inch plug wires Ngk plugs which are two steps colder then I was running. The old plug shows I needed a colder plug. Should be down on the bottom threads.
