LT1/LT1 ETs, Anyone?

I am waiting to see how the new Camaro version will fare at the drag strip.

The All seasons may hurt a little, but even the stock SS tires are not all that sticky so the GM bog on the M6 should help even things out and give the lighter LT1 a slight advantage. I hope to have on next spring and get back to the M6. The 10 speed auto is very cool but not much fun to race. And maybe we will see some 11 second A10 times.

Also I want to see what we can do with a M6 LT1 with just DRs.

Anyone run the new LT1 yet? I did see an 1/8th mile video somewhere. As I rember the 1/8 time lined up with low 12s, but I think that LT1 was an A10 listening to the run.

From the perspective of an SS owner, those LT1 auto times in that video look a little slow to me for the 89mph trap speed. A stock SS auto running 89mph trap speed, like that car did, can beat those times noticeably, like around 2 tenths or so.

a bit pretentious, don’t you think? comparing the ONLY vid known to be in existence of a 2020 LT1 car to a 4 year old car that in all honesty will be splitting hairs to begin with. i’ve been to the drag strip several times. i never saw a stock or lightly modified a8/10 car go quicker than 12.4 or 114 mph. i know they exist and i know it’s possible...point being, at those times and places - the cars were not terribly impressive. the LT1 is no different.

Realistically, stock v. stock, the LT1 is only 66 lbs lighter than a SS and that is going to be good for about .005 off the time slip.

Not pretentious at all. Was talking about the times relative to the mph in that video specifically. I know from actual experience that a stock auto SS running in conditions that give 89mph trap speeds can run quicker than 8.2s. When I first got my SS, went down the track on a crappy 2000+ DA type of day. I was there to prep for an event where there would be no burnouts, so I did no drag stuff at all on that day. No lowering rear tire pressures, and no burnout. Still went 8.0@89 like that in a stock SS auto.

Plenty on the fast list have run much quicker then 8.20s as wnta 1ss said. I ran 12.04 and he ran 12.06 and 7.80s@over 90 mph bone stock, we weren't even the fastest as some ran almost a 10th quicker then we did.

One nice thing about the LT1 rear calipers is they will not expand enough to touch my 17" Dragstars like my ZL1 did. I wonder if 15s will fit over the 6 cylinder rear brakes?

I don't think you can run 15's but someone told me you can run a 16" wheel.

Yes we did, but we had better conditions for those times than what he had in the video. That is why I did not compare my 7.80s to his 8.2s, because on a day when it's running 89mph, you have a somewhat different expectation for your ET than on a day when it's going over 90mph. Was trying to keep the proper perspective on the performance shown in the video.
