New 2022 1SS 1LE in Vivid Orange - $44,175

Hope this is OK to post here.

I know nothing of this dealer or the car, but it's a $2k discount off sticker price. Cheaper than most used cars 1-2 years older.
I'd get it, but I want PDR....

Not a bad price at all. I purchase my 2017 2SS used from a Jeff Wyler dealership in March of this year. Not a bad experience at all.

I called them and they said the price will be closer to $50K.
I asked "but you have listed it for a discount on your website?"
Replied (repeating his previous statement) "its going to be closer to $50K"

Rip off and don't wasted my time...

So here's another one....
This is just about exactly what I want to buy. See below.

Chevy site says $48.8k. Not a bargain, but at least its sticker price.
Call and talk about them shipping from PA to IN.
"No problem, we do it all the time. Just shipped on to CA last week. OH BTW, due to the current market, the actual price on this car will be an additional $7000".
Wut? Almost $56k for a 1SS?
WTF is wrong with people.....

It will probably still be happening through 2022 unfortunately. As long as there are suckers who will pay the markups, they will keep doing it.

Don't pay mark ups. Put the dealers on blast anywhere we go. A fool and his money are soon parted.

Yep, pretty ridiculous…but, it is a relatively unique configuration and audience of prospective buyers. Some of those buyers are highly motivated. If the dealer can get the $, all the power to them.

I’m making a mental note of the dealers that are gouging now…when the worm turns, they won’t get business from me (doesn’t have to be a Chevy). What comes around goes around.

I can't remember where I saw it, but I saw a good post on how some of the pricing is done on these websites. They list everything that you may or may not qualify for knowing that not everyone is going to qualify. It's usually a little for conquest, a little for loyalty, a little for college grads, for military, first responders, etc. Of course, with supply being so constrained these days, many of those programs have all but disappeared. It definitely seems kind of shady, but that's kind of how dealerships do business these days.

The Tim Lally dealership where I bought my rapid blue has a VOM on the way with PDR and manual. Give them a ring to see if it’s been allocated for or not. I didn’t pay dealer markup for mines either

That pretty standard; I always look for the fine print in ads. On the other hand, if a dealer lists a car for a certain price and they then tell you the price is significantly more with no fine print to account for it, isn't that illegal as in false advertising? Can you contact the state's attorney and have them investigate? All they'd have to do is make the phone call that other posters above have made inquiring about price.

I'm used to dealers doing shady stuff, but in order for it to fly (at least in ads), it has to be covered in the fine print.

A lot of dealers include a very generic "pricing may include incentives not all customers qualify for" or even "pricing may not be up to date" or some such language. Sadly that's generally enough to cover them for any gouging they want to do.
