Headlight question for 2011 chevy camaro ss.
Am i able to convert Hids to halogen, if so what is needed for the conversion? Currently I am unable to see much when my headlights or high beams are on. I have already tried changing out the headlights with no luck and looking to replace the housing now. Thank you for the help.

Sorry this isn't constructive at all but how can you not see? I still get flashed. Are you sure you have the HIDs? HIDs have the halo ring and are part of the RS package.

I thought all the 2ss had the projector HIDs. Mine does, but no halo ring.
OP, you might be the first to attempt that swap, but I would happily trade you my non-projector housings with LED bulbs off my 2010 for the projector beam units.

I don’t do much night driving but, when I do, I always comment on how nicely they let me see.

Something isn't right, because the OEM HIDs are excellent. I'm at the age with declining night vision has started and I *love* the headlights in my 2011 SS/RS.

I'm almost certain that the RS package was responsible for adding HID headlights, not the 1SS/2SS trim.
Easiest way to tell if your car has the RS package is to look at the SS on the rear and or front grill. White=non rs Red=rs

^^ this. Also if it is a non RS car the roof ditch molding will be black, and not painted the car color. All RS package cars had the HID's with the halo rings.

Non-RS SS cars have halogen bulbs.
If they seem weak, it's time for new bulbs. The bulbs do degrade as evaporated metals coat the inside of the bulb. Another tip for non-RS Camaro owners: use your fog lights! Unlike RS cars, non-RS Camaro have functional fog lights that can be turned on by pressing the middle of the headlight dial. Night vision is vastly improved. This feature is the reason I ordered my 2010 as non-RS. |

Also I can’t imagine a reason the HID setup would ever really need fog lights in place of the running lights. I get high beam flashes every time I drive it at night while I’ve got the low beams on.

The turbo car has halogen housings with LED bulbs. The vert definitely has HID, but it must be an RS since the logo is red. Maybe the halos don't work or I just never paid attention. I always looked at the body-colored rain gutters to figure out if it was an RS, but no rain gutters on the vert.
I will say the LEDs in the turbo car seem just as bright as the projector beams.
