High speed slide; going perpendicular to the track and going from asphalt to lumpy dirt… ugh!

Hate seeing shit like that. Don’t understand what caused the initial slide. Dirty track? Stab at throttle? Strange

cold tires on slicks not experienced driver not a good combo...and dont stab the throttle on the first warm up lap coming out of the pits...

Looked exactly like cold track tires with a lack of experience. Cold slick tire breakaway is so sudden...people think they need to go all-out with their cars at the track, but most people simply aren't ready for slicks and whatnot...

That's very unfortunate...glad he's ok. In a spin, 2 feet in! (Well just 1 foot on the brake pedal in this case since the car has no clutch pedal.) Not sure why he ignored this fundamental track teaching and jumped off of the brakes without reapplying them after being very sideways while sliding towards the sloped dirt off to the side of the paved track surface.

Also if he didn't suddenly go from 80%+ throttle to 0% he may have caught the slide without overcorrecting. Of course it is easy to analyze it afterwards from the comfort of my couch but fundamentals like those should be thoroughly learned/practiced before a driver tries slicks IMO.

First hand experience with this! My very first track weekend, I kept hearing that same saying, but nobody explained WTF it meant to me! I ended up wrecking on my 2nd to last session of the weekend, because of not doing exactly what you were supposed to do.

At the first spin he got off throttle and caused snap oversteer. This was compounded by extremely slow steering inputs. He's shuffling his hands on the wheel.

I think he was probably inexperienced, but also had a passenger that was distracting him.

Bad combination that had a horrible outcome.
