Rear diff end play at driveline

Have a slight click or clunk noise at low speed when accel or decelerating kinda like an old school joint beginning to go out. Had car up yesterday installing complete exhaust so looked over rear end, mounts etc didn’t see anything obvious. When I grab driveshaft I have maybe 1/8 to 1/4 end play in the rear diff. No diff noises or other noise. Just purchased the car and will change rear diff oil with purple but wondering if this play would be within normal limits?
