Traction Control on a V6

I am curious, what does turning off the traction control really do on a V6 car, 6 spd. I have not noticed a difference in traction regardless of where the switch is set.

Push the car hard enough and you should notice a difference If a wheel starts to slip the engine will reduce power/torque to the wheels; if there's still slippage the brakes will come on as required to stop any slippage.

Smooth, sexy drifts at U-turns. That is all

When it activates, does it feel like a slipping clutch?

Maybe when accelerating moderately from a stop and a tire starts slipping, like on wet or snowy roads it feels like a slipping clutch (brakes engaging); if you're turning and accelerating and gas too hard, like trying to make a quick left turn at an intersection, it feels more like you suddenly took your foot off the gas at a high RPM (power reduced).
