A guy pulled up next to me yesterday and asked if I would sell it to him. Used cars must be hard to find these days.

It's not about the money/status of a car Vs. the other, at least not for me. It's the appreciation for someone who decided to pick a fun/driver's car instead of a mere transportation device.

Are you sure he was talking about the car?

To me it's just a little weird though. Someone did tell me that maybe I should accept it as them acknowledging my taste in color, model, etc. But, I'll have to learn to be gracious about it as I don't want to seem arrogant.

Dude in a vert firebird, maybe a 69, glared at me, then floored it and sped off.

Just like you are what you eat, I generally think you are what you drive. With few exceptions, you can probably determine the lifestyle / political orientation and preferences of the owner based on the brand and type of car. Cars like the Leaf are just appliances - like a toaster. Nothing more.

Picked up my brand new 2022 Rapid Blue 1SS 1LE from a dealership in SC on February 19th. I had about a 250 mile drive home. As I was approaching where I live, which is connected to I-95 by a four lane divided highway, a car came up from behind me in the left lane (I was in the right lane trying to take it easy for the first 500 break in miles). As the other car approached me it suddenly slowed down just before it got beside me. It was around 7:30 pm so it was already dark outside. Then as the car slowly pulled up beside me I realized it was another Gen 6 Camaro. The driver honked the horn and then slowly pulled away. My first taste of Camaro respect.

Very few comments either way since I bought my car in April of 2018.
It's amazing to me how many people have no idea of the car's brand.
There was a time when everyone could identify a camaro.
I feel very ignored by most drivers and that's fine with me.
As other have said, strange looks from mustang and challenger drivers and it seems
obvious they know it's a faster car.
Negative responses from others is a manifestation of their own short comings in various aspects of their lives.

And that's why they say you should never judge a book by its cover. The Leaf, interestingly enough came about because I didn't want to rely on gas prices for both of my vehicles. At one point less than 3 months ago, I was driving two V8s that got less than 18 MPG and required premium. The leaf is a hedge against gas prices going up, which given recent events, I think I made a sound move. The ZL1 still comes out, but only when the day is nice enough.

I am actually getting a ZL1 for the less attention. Around these parts its just a Camaro or another mustang and there are 4000 of them. My 21 3lt z51 C8 was a pain in the back side. Everywhere i went... look at that , everyone wanted to talk, and it was all the wrong attention. people being nosey about what you do to afford that and hey wanna invest in this or that. With the ZL1 no one expects it to be a 70k car and thinks it just another trailer part American v8 and no one bothers to look. Ill blend right in around here. If I need the attention Ill just take the 21 Supra out for a spin that ting also gets the heads turning. They can give it all the bad comments they want Ill just wave at them in my rear view mirror LOL
