Ordering My First New Camaro

After having to have full sized and mini vans for work I can finally have a real car again! I've been waiting 20 years for the time to come and today I finally get to meet with the salesman and put together the order for my new Camaro 2SS.

After reading through this site I'm ordering the 2SS w/A10 in Riverside Blue Metallic, the magnetic ride control, dual mode exhaust, and sun roof. Hopefully this will be a great combination.

Just wanted to pop in and say THANKS to everyone on the forum and introduce myself as I'm sure I will have questions along the way, I've learned so much here already and look forward to learning more.

I briefly had a '69 Camaro SS in dark blue back in the '80s but my brother drove it through 2 telephone poles (and walked away...until I chased him down, LOL). I then owned several Pontiacs which I loved...until I had to get the vans I'm so happy to be coming back and soon to feel that power and rumble again

Your gonna love it! NPP (Dual Mode Exhaust) and MRC (Mag Ride Control) are great features to have! Are you going with the black Carbon Flash Wheels? They look great on Riverside Blue.

Thanks! Just got back home with an order number

Easiest experience I've had in a dealership. I knew what I wanted and was prepared to haggle a bit with a rock bottom price from Edmonds, TrueCar & KBB, and then they offered a price below that - I totally wasn't prepared for that hahaha but after missing a couple beats I was able to get another $500 off and free oil changes for a year.

I went with the stock silver wheels, much to my husband's dismay, because they reminded me a bit of the Cragar's I used to have back in the day. We will be buying another set in black with either all-weather or better track tires (still deciding) once we get the car to make my him happy, LOL.

Decided to add front and rear splash guards since we live down a long dirt road (well maintained, but still) and the Performance Air Intake to the order too once I got there and started going over all the options in detail when putting the order together.

I still have to decide on if I want stripes. My brother owns an auto body business, shows cars and drives in NHRA top fuel and nostalgia classes, he is going to do any striping for me. He also can't wait to run the new Camaro, but I already wrote about what happened to my last Camaro when I let him drive...He is older, wiser and a great driver now but I do like to tease him, LOL

Congratulations, you'll be in for a treat once the car is delivered Great choices with the options, too, you'll love the magnetic ride and the dual mode exhaust.

Don't forget to ask Joe to help track your order in this thread: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=415251. He is very helpful, you can ask for status updates every week or even day if you want. I put mine with dates in my signature, see below. Waiting is difficult, but getting status updates and chatting up other members walking in the same shoes helps

Never too soon

If you look at my signature, I placed the order on 1/30 and it was accepted by GM the next day, then a week later got scheduled for production, shortly afterwards a target production week (TPW) was assigned and so on... please don't ask me how many times I opened the online configurator and scoured the web for service advice, reviews and the like in the meantime

HAHA I may have to ask him to check it tomorrow, today it was hard to stay away from Joe's board

I may or may not have already gone completely through the owner's manual, or put the stock photo on my desktop already...

SusieL, I see you're still at 1100 status, it may be because (as I was told) dealerships only submit orders to GM once a week, on Tuesdays, I think, or because yours has no allocation... but that would be unlikely for a 2SS, it's typically only problematic with the ZL1 1LE.

If your status isn't at least 2000 a week after you placed your order,it's time to call the dealership, otherwise it's time for a few more weeks.

I saw it was at 1100 status on Joe's thread so at least it's in the system. Now to make sure your dealer has allocation for you. Tuesdays or after are your best bet to check with Joe because that's when Chevy picks up orders. If you still are at 1100 status after two weeks, talk to your dealer. There might be a parts shortage or shutdown causing to stay at that level, or the dealer doesn't have allocation. Good luck with your order, I'll be watching.
