SS hood vents on RS/LT

Anyone with an RS/LT install SS hood vents? If so, any chance you can send photos and any details on cost? Thinking about possibly adding the 2019-2021 vent to my 2018 instead of the 2016-2018 vents, thoughts?

Thanks!

You would probably be better off buying an SS hood.

I agree I just feel like most people price their hoods a bit higher than I would consider paying right now.

Although a lot of work, it's doable in a garage, the cut doesn't have to be absolutely perfect. I recall seeing this mod in several youtube videos.

There is a step by step tutorial on here somewhere that someone did a long time ago. Didn't look to difficult, just takes a lot of balls to cut your hood though. One major problem I pointed out that nobody else caught was, the hood vents sit flush mounted/beveled in the factory SS hood. You cut a non-SS LT hood, the vents will be sitting on top and not flush = kind of looks ghetto IMO and why I wouldn't do it.

Cool, thank you. What are your thoughts...if you had an rs would you do the mod or would you keep the stock hood? Really not sure if its slightly over the top or not...

Interesting, that definitely gives me some second thoughts then. How exactly are they flush on the oem ss hood...like what makes it different as opposed to just cutting the lt hood and put them in?? Guess i'll have to find some photos to look and see the difference, thank you for telling me about this.

The only hood vent I would cut into an RS/LT hood would be the Hines Hex Vents.... sadly, he stopped making these a few years ago and are no longer available

Since you asked, my strictly personal and subjective opinion is that it would be posing. These vents would not be functional or at least not particulary effective on a V6 or I4.

I do understand that you like the scoops, but the smooth, "unmolested" hood has its own appeal and I'd try to embrace it. You can significantly enhance the look of your front end with the LT SEMA grille, if you are interested: https://www.phastekperformance.com/2...a-841500xx.htm

(BTW I will not consider swapping my front bumper out for a ZL1 or a ZL1 1LE replica for the same reason.)

You are in NJ? I have seen Facebook marketplace ads from a shop in Toms River that regularly sells new, takeoff hoods at reasonable prices. They don't ship, but maybe pickup is an option for you? I checked the "6th Gen Camaro Parts for Sale" FB group. No hoods currently listed by that vendor, but you might try reaching out to the person who posts the listings: Joe Carannante. As I recall, in addition to a variety of factory colors, they had wrapped SS 1LE hoods as well if you were interested in that look!

The 1st pic you can see what I'm talking about being "flush" with the hood. The 2nd pic looks like it's just sitting on top. Doesn't look to bad though...
