The big take away for me was never go 600 or more on lift. ALL of the GMPP cams are 500 lift.

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=579029
The hotcam is more that 500 LT1 Hot Cam
Duration @ .050" Lift( Deg): Intake: 228 / Exhaust: 248
Maximum Lift (in) W/ 1.7 Rocker: Intake: .577 / Exhaust: .577
Lobe Centerline ( deg): 110
Technical Notes: Design for 1.81:1 rocker arms; requires non-afm lifters

But I would say there are probably better cams by Cam Motion, BTR, etc for us lower lift desiring folks.

Timbo-1LE: Hope you continue to pursue the GM Hot Kit. Are you ordering piecemeal or as a combination part number? My Chevy rep quoted better numbers for the individual parts and no comment on back order.

It would be great if you could dyno numbers before and after - my technique to confirm the investment (great for the rest of us too!).

I think some benefit to the GM name...even resale value for parts or a car equipped. I'm aware possibly not the best option, but I recall easily selling my GM Hot Cam for my Gen II LT4 for decent return.

Tim M, still looking. I was pursuing the complete kit. I did check local dealer and he also stated in back order. Will advise.

I thought I had read (forum) that Katech does the porting, but unconfirmed. Unsure on the cam - OEM factories?

I saw that minor difference in chamber size too, but I was thinking it's just a typo. I forgot the LS mill to chamber size factor but seems like 1cc wouldn't be very much and wouldn't make that much difference in compression anyway.

Good catch if it’s 1cc and not 1 point.

Sent a check to Katech, head porting, LT1 hot cam, new valve train, oil pump, a few other items. Focused on torque and reliability. Should be dropping it off in 8-10 weeks. Get a dyno'd so should have numbers...

Also one point of compression ratio, not CC... But they listed like five items they are doing to my heads.... He also said to keep the LT2 manifold.. He said they have had good luck with them, his view was 5 HP from MSD, 911 hunting

I sent my heads to Katech last week, CNC ported, hand ported both sides, springs, valve grind, brass valves, smith brothers kit, deck shaved down for a few more compression numbers. Set up for race calibrations, Dan said I would be extremely happy with the heads. Turn around he said 4-5 weeks.

I think we will be both happy with Katechs work.

Katech said the GM CNC heads are 1 more point in compression? Or thats what Katech is milling yours too?

Sorry, two different discussions. When doing reserch, one tuner stated the combustion chamber porting lowered cr by about a point with the GM kit. Discussions with Katech did not cover this topic, but they are.doing something called "head decking" on top of cbc porting, valve job, chamber porting. So assuming they again it back..

Remember I only bought the hot cam itself, could not find the heads.

If you are going for tq with the hot cam you may be disappointed. I only have 456 lb ft with long tubes, E, PTB, rotofab and the LT2. Soggy below 3500, rips hard past that. Maybe the bump in CR will aid in TQ. Good luck
