Indeed, the stock tires aren't good in the rain. Due to the weather there, the best and safest bet is to replace them with a tire that's more wet weather friendly. You can always sell the oem tires.

As everyone said, it is not about the car, but about the tires. Our cars actually handle rain and snow really well. You just have to have the right tires for the conditions that you expect to be driving in. The stock tires are fine if your ZL1 is a garage queen that will never see dampness or cold temperatures below 40 degrees or a dry weather track monster. The width of the tires, tire tread design of the stock tires and design for maximum dry weather traction all conspire against good wet handling. I personally like the Michelin Pilot Super Sport which gets a 9.0 in wet handling (Tire Rack rating) without sacrificing much in performance. (ps. These are Michelin Alpin Winter tires shown below.) ps. ps. My favorite tires on this car are Hoosiers, but that is definitely not for rain.
