Blown MPS4 tire, need to make decision on replacement

Well this sucks. Hit something in the road and immediately knew it wasn't good. Tire flat in 30 seconds. As I write this still waiting on GM roadside to find me a tow truck for the last hour.

Anyway, I have road hazard from discount tire and as I feared the Michelin ps4s tires (stock sizes) are back ordered until july. My question is would you go ahead and replace with a in stock 285/30/20 michelin Super Sport, or bump up size to 295/30/20 ps4?

I'm likely going to have to buy a second tire to match because I'm probably under half tread on the front left anyways. And praying the rim is still good.

Thanks for your suggestions.

if the 295 is available, go with it, no rub issues.

This constant supply issue on these is making me rethink what I put on my 1LE when the time comes. Good luck sir!

I wouldn't mix compounds on the same axle

I would suggest buying 2 stock size Michelin Super Sport tires if available. You don’t want to mix sizes on the front or back. The Michelin Super Sport tires are tried and true and will be okay to use with the MPS4s on the rear. Or you could get 2 295/30 MPS4s for the front if available.

I'm beginning to think this way also. I had one warranteed before the shortage and my car was still down for a week waiting on one. Great tire, but if ya can't get your hands on em easily, what good are they

I was looking at new Michelins or Continentals for my ZL1 back in April and either the front or rears were on backorder so I had OEM GY F1 Supercar3s put on because they were available and I got a better price on the GYs too. I bought new tires thru the local Chevy dealer.

I have a single 285/30/20 PS4S tire for sale, asking $220 + shipping. Send me a private message if you're interested.

I agree it is best not to mix tire compounds on the same axle with a high performance car.

One thing to note about ordering PSS now is they are only making select sizes. They have to make them for something like 10 years if they came on a car from factory. If this isn't one of those sizes then they may be a little old. I had to replace one on my last car late last year, after taking a nail to a sidewall, and the new one that came in was date codded 2017.

Yeah and the tires aren’t a common size either. There are only a select few of cars that use these sizes and the manufacturers only make so many. That’s what I was told in an email from Customer service of Continental tires a year or so ago about their Extreme Contact Sport tires.
