Continental Extreme Contact Sports vs Michelin Pilot Super Sports

I can get both for the exact same price, about $1020 shipped. The ones I've been running, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's, have gone up about $300 from that. I'm not sure they're worth $300 more than these two tires. Anyone have experience with both? I have about 22k miles on mine and they will be done after my next track day next month. Pretty happy with the wear. I would prefer a stiffer sidewall, but none of these seem to have what I would call a stiff sidewall.

PS4S replaces the PSS.
ECS are similar to PSS.

I have MPSS on my DD (V8 Genesis) and the wet and dry grip is best in class for tires I can get for that car. Haven’t driven on Conti ECS, sorry. Performance of the Michelins has been great, tread life and balance retention excellent. It hasn’t been broke so....

The Continentals were on my SS when I bought it used. They are a great improvement in wet conditions over the Goodyears F1 eagles that were on my RS.

I've driven on all of these tires on various cars.

The Continental ECS is much newer than the PSS. I consider the ECS a better tire overall. As others have said, the PS4 is the successor to the PSS. I think the PS4 is faster than the ECS in the dry, and they are roughly similar in the wet.

The ECS has a softer sidewall than the PS4, so take that into consideration.

Both are good, but I would choose Michelin.

I can only speak to the Conti's. I have them and I wouldn't change them for any other tire.

I agree the ECS has a softer sidewall for a more comfortable ride. The Michelins respond faster when slightly moving the steering wheel. If money is no object go Michelin. If you want to save a few hundred go Continental. My car vette came with Michelin PS2 runflats and I could tell the difference in both. Saying that I would buy the Continentals again. Not saying it wasn't good enough, but the sizes I wanted they don't make the Michelins in a non run flat.

I'm still rollin on my PS4's after 25,000 miles. I have 4/32nd's in the middle of the rears, 5-6 on the outsides. One front is newer due to a nail to close to the sidewall, the other is 5-6 32nd's. I'm waiting for Black Friday at Discount Tire as that's usually the best time to buy. I think I will have to go with the PS4's again as I don't want a softer sidewall and these things just keep hanging on and they're still fine in the rain Unless there's another tire that compares to them at the same price or less, and I don't think anything does.

Maybe someone who owns the Michelin Cup Series of tires can respond to this. Does the Michelin Series of tires kick up alot of rocks, stones ect. ? or does it seem the compound is harder then what comes stock on the Goodyear Super Car tires ?

I have the Michelin PS4S on my ZLE. They don’t pickup near as many stones as the factory GY3rs. They are a harder compound but a smoother ride. The 3rs treadwear rating is 100 where the PS4S is 300.
I’m impressed with the wear on these Michelin’s especially in the rear tires as I like to get the rears loose a lot. And the kids love it when I pull skids from a dead stop.
Well so do I for that matter. Lol

I also run PS4S (and am satisfied), but that's not the Cup series he was asking about... those are more likely to throw a barrage of rocks.
