TPMS and Rim Questions
Hi-
I bought a set of 2019 SS rims 20x8.5 20x9.5, from Ebay, to use as my winter setup on my 18 1LE. I did some research before posting but I'm hoping to clarify a few things. For TPMS I should order the following parts? Camaro Tire Pressure Monitor System Sensor Nut, Single Part # 84413358 2018 Camaro Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor, XL8 433 MHz, Single Part #84413355 Will the 2018 sensors fit the 2019 rims? The part # (84413363) for 2019 is different than the part # for 2018. Are there any additional parts I need to order, so that the sensors can be installed on the rims? For tires, I plan to install Pilot Sport A/S 3+ 245/40ZR20 (F) and 275/35ZR20 ( R ) Based on what I’ve read the rims will bolt directly onto the car. Should I anticipate needing any spacers? A couple assumptions that I made is that I can use the same lug nuts and center caps from the stock 1LE wheels. Hopefully those assumptions are correct. Thanks in advance for any feedback. |

The OEM SS 1LE tires in stock sizes are below, I would make sure the tire sizes you use on the SS wheels are close to the same height. You dont need any spacers or new lug nuts, both sets of wheels use the same style of lug nuts.
I would get the TPMS sensors from Discount tire or online, GM is super proud of them. Once you have them mounted if the TPMS sensors you got are dual mode you will need a tire shop to program them to the correct frequency for the Camaro SS. OEM tire sizes and mounted height Front 285/30-20 - mounted height - 26.02" Rear 305/30-20 - mounted height - 27.20" The tires you are planning on using will be: 245/40-20 - 27.71 275/35-20 - 27.57 If you can find a 255/30-20 it will be a better match for the front, the rears are about as close as you can get. Only other option is buy the same size wheels as the 1LE spec and run the same OE size tires but in a winter tire.

For the TPMS I'm planning to order from ShopChevyParts.com I didn't find any All-Seasons in 255/30-20. Based on your feedback on tire size, Continental offer the Extreme Contact DWS 06 in 245/35/20 and according to what I found online the overall diam. is listed as 26.8. Also, I've found a number of tire options available 255/35/20 and those are listed as 27 height. Either the 245/35 or 255/35 are my only options with the rims I have. Do you recommend the 245/35/ or 255/35? Thanks again for your help. Last edited by jgenestra2012; 10-25-2019 at 11:27 AM. Reason: Added additional info |

The closer you can get the overall height to the OEM SS 1LE tire specs the closer the speedo/odometer will be and the happier the ABS computer will be also.
Here is the formula to calculate tire height, this way you can run the sizes thru and see which is closer. Based on a 305/30-20 tire size: - 305 x .30 = 91.5mm - 91.5mm / 25.4mm = 3.60" - 3.60" x 2 = 7.20" (The 3.6" is how tall each tire is from the ground to the wheel, multiply by 2 since there is a top and bottom.) 7.2" + 20" (Wheel size) = 27.20" tall tire

With the TPMS, I bought a set off of Amazon for like 50 or 60 bucks and got the reset tool for 15 bucks, as long as you get the 433 MHz sensors then you be GTG, I put the sensors that I got and put them in my MRR 017's and have no issues what so ever.
