Boosting a 2019 SS with stock internals?
I know this was addressed in a previous post over 2 years ago so I'm curious if anything has changed. I have a fairly stock 2019 SS and want to get as close to 600hp as possible. I was quoted by a local shop for all new internals, headers, cam procharger etc. for 20k. Out of my budget. So, with all the knowledge here, can I keep stock internals, just add headers and turbo or should I add the cam as well? I know it won t get me to 600 but I'd be ok with it for now? How are these engines holding up with stock internals with some boost?
Thanks guys |

You don't need cam, rods, pistons, or headers to hit that power number. All you need is about 7-8psi, fuel system upgrade, and E60.

You would be fine with boost only, but tbh, I would look into pistons sooner than later. It’s a hit or miss and you will crave more power. Pistons are your insurance policy.

I added a LT4 S/C to my SS2w/o changing internals. No change to fuel system. 650crank h/p. 535 wheel h/p and 569 Tqe at wheel. Its a gas to drive. Work performed by Vengenace in Cumming Ga. No threat to engine or internals as long as you stay low on boost. Have headers and free flowing exhaust. Very pleased. GO for the gold.

Thanks for the input. Newer to the boost scene so I'm learning everyday.

570 max on stock fuel system A Whipple or Magnuson with LT headers JRE LT4 Fuel system upgrade can easily do 600 RWHP and also support up to E60 fuels. We did one last week 620 RWHP on 93. Add our Terminator cam and 700+ is Easy. Feel free to call me with any questions or one of our Super Street Brawler packages. Ted.

Those saying 600 rwhp is OK on a stock internal LT1 are incorrect, at least in hard run applications. GM's LT4 development engineers have stated on the record that the stock LT1 forged crankshaft failed repeatedly when subjected to durability/extreme tests at LT4 power levels. So they developed a stronger crankshaft for the LT4. Not to mention the forged pistons and connecting rods.
So, boost to 650 crank hp and 650 ft-lbs at your own risk, knowing the crank may eventually fail when run hard.

I've run 650whp thru an auto tranny on bonestock LS internals for over a decade. Rebuilding now at 100kmi just because ..even though it still runs well.
I cannot imagine the LT generation is any less stout? |

We have many 750 RWHP LT1 on the street and never once a failure. Ted.

Both the Lt1 and Lt4 have forged crank, forged powdered rods. Here are the specs for each 6.2
https://www.onallcylinders.com/2018/...le%20%28E85%29. https://www.onallcylinders.com/2018/...am-specs-more/ I also made 770 with the stock Lt1 on race fuel, I did have Big Bore pump and Lt4 injectors with a little Meth on the side. Went 10.00@139 so the Lt1 is a pretty serious contender as long as you treat it with a little love. Crankcase venting is a critical part of the formula. I ran that on totally stock exhaust also.
