Blaqwhole's Android-X ultimate build thread!!

So I figured I might as well start a build thread since I am planning to mod my ZL1 this year. I'll also do updates on my other vehicles as well...as I mod them.

My ZL1 is a 2017 that I bought brand new back in March/April of 2017. It is black and has A10 trans, CF exposed hood insert, Nav, PDR, and sunroof! Other add-ons were the car cover, battery charger, and the wheel locks. I got it with $3K in rebates. I traded in a Mustang GT and a Camaro SS For this car. Anyway the first round of mods consisted of RF cai, Katech ported TB, VTC to make the throttle more lively, and a MBRP stainless steel 3 inch catback!! Although I am satisfied with the performance it has, I do want more. And, let's face it, the competition is getting faster and faster. So I made the decision to start modding it this Summer.

So if the bolt-ons I did were stage 1 of my build, I guess the stage 2 will be LTs, blower swap, remote tune, and Big Gulp cai. I'm looking to make in the neighborhood of 650 to 700 RWHP but with a safe mild to moderate tune on 93 octane and with everyday drive-ability. So I am looking at TSP 2" LTS with the Maggie Heartbeat 2650 blower. I want the 2650 as I think that will give me everything I need for now with the potential to turn it up in the future. Stage 3 will include cam install if I decide to go that far. And I know the 2650 will be able to support whatever I can throw at it. In the meantime I am looking at the differences between the 2650, the Whipple 2.9, the E-Force, and PC centri blowers. Although I am pretty much set on the 2650, you never really know...

So I'll be updating this with info and pics and whatever I find out during my quest to kill the competition. I'll also update this as I mod and do maintenance on my cars. Or even just to benchmark and report on living with these cars (ZL1, Hellcat, X5) everyday when interesting things occur. So stay tuned.

BTW, her name is "Android-X"!!

So I mentioned this in a thread but I'll say it here. I ordered some tires for the HC and ZL1. The ZL1 is getting stock size MPS4S while I threw some Cosmo MM tires on the HC. The lease on the HC is up in July and it is going back so I wanted to throw the cheapest new tires on it that I could find. It came down to the Cosmo MM and Pirelli P-Zero tires. They came in Thursday night and I had the HC tires put on yesterday.

There was a snafu with the ZL1 tires. Turns out the place I ordered from actually did not have the fronts in stock. So I had to wait for them to refund my money and then reorder them from somewhere else. I ordered them yesterday evening and they should arrive on Monday. I already have the rears at the shop waiting. So hopefully I'll have them installed on the ZL1 by Tuesday evening.

Note: I was told by someone on one of the FB groups that Tire Rack is out of stock on the rear MPS4s in stock sizes. I do not know how true this is as I did not get to check. But I ordered mine from Ebay and most places showed 10 or more in stock. I figured this is good info to pass on for those who are looking to order. You might want to do it soon instead of waiting.

Hellcat tires done deal!! Installed and balanced. Firestone and PepBoys wanted to charge $35 per rim for low profile tires. But my local (long-time) shop charged me $25 per tire and I threw their guy a tip. These tires were a bit of a hassle to install. But they came out clean. And I gotta say, for economy tires, so far, they handle well. I would not have thrown them on if I planned to keep the car tho. But I am surprised at how good they are. Initial impressions has them right about the same as the P-Zeros felt when brand new. So that might just mean that the P-Zeros are crappy, lol!!

Yes I know my rims are filthy!!

And here is an early morning out and about shot of the HC!! The ground was still wet but the tires were fine for cheapos. They even held up to a couple spirited pulls (within the speed limit of course)!! Too bad she has to go in a few months. I'll miss her but I am definitely gonna enjoy her as much as possible until then!!

Ah. The old tires. Yea I know. They had just under 19K miles on them. I should have replaced them a good few thousand miles ago. These tires never saw a burnout. I guess you could say I got my money's worth.

The old tires on the ZL1 are even worse. I'll post a pic of those later.

Just as an update, the Cosmo MM tires are actually pretty good. They hold the road fine, the ride is smooth and controlled, there is no road noise (that I've noticed), and they grip pretty well. They seem pretty comparable to the stock P-Zeros. Except I would say the Cosmo MMs are a bit softer and seem to hold better. I would not have bought these if it wasn't going back for lease return. But after buying them I would say that they are pretty decent for a Winter tire or for a cheap tire to use until you can get some better ones.

With that said my PS4S tires should arrive tomorrow by the end of the day. I have to work a double tomorrow so they'll have to wait until Tuesday to get installed. I'm eager to see how these perform!!

Looking forward to the 2650. That's the direction I want to go.

I'm pretty much decided on it. There are a few more things I would like to research on them but so far the 2650 seems to be the ticket.
