Look the instructions say to torque the small bolts before the manifold is installed, I don't know why but it is clearly in the instructions. Maybe MSD feels that the two haves need to be joined only after the manifold has kind of taken a set from production. Don't beat me up, I installed the manifold 3 years ago, but again I clearly remember the instructions saying the small bolts needed to be tightened. I clearly remember and then disregarding said instructions as their spec was too much for such small blots. I hand tightend my. Your built in hand wrench maybe um less ideal

The intake should not be stored with outer bolts torqued. It will warp the intake!

Once off the heads store as delivered!!

I didn't see it stated if it was new, used or had been ported. Maybe I missed that offering or if someone else asked that question.

For sure, don't get confused on torque in inches and ft lbs. I had a guy when I was working tech at Magnuson and he was trying to torque the intake at a 109 lbs of torque when it specifically said in the instructions 109 inch lbs. Broke every bolt that he tried to install. He called me and asked if he'd gotten a bunch of bad bolts and I asked him what he was torqueing the bolts at and he realized before he even answered he screwed up and read the information wrong.

I read on page 1 someone mentioned that you have to re-buy bolts if you takeoff the manifold. Is this really true?

When I installed mine, used an inch-pound torque wrench and tightened everything per Holley/MSD spec including the center bolts. It's been flawless since then and right now it's Africa blast furnace hot here in central Florida so I figure following the directions is the way to go. Hopefully I won't have to come back and say, oh shit, haha...

The MSD intake manifold bolts were loose.

Some were only HAND-TIGHT...
Snugged everything to spec and running beautiful now.

Moral: CHECK YOUR MSD IM bolts
Just checked mine and they were also not to 75 inch pounds. Not loose but not to spec.

The same thing happened to my ported MSD on my 2016 SS. To me the LT2 is a much better performance value. With other options now maybe the MSD is not the plan even with all out bolton builds. Although it did look cool.
