GT4.R

Chevrolet is building a Camaro GT4.R to compete at IMSA Continental series and Pirelli World Challenge.
Not sure if this model will go into production for street use. If someone is in the know please chime in.

That combination of rear wing, splitter, and dive plane really improve styling too. Totally badass! I wouldn't be surprised to see these offered as aftermarket bold-on accessories for ZL1 owners soon.

You don't test race cars on public streets.
That's my position as well. No need to test it on the street unless there are plans to release a street version. Will it be a ZL1 package or a Z28 is the question now.

I can't imagine they would have a generation of Camaro without a Z/28 so I think we will get one eventually. That doesn't necessarily mean this is it though.

GT4.R will be NA-variant of LT1

From GM Authority

The Camaro GT4.R is based on the Camaro ZL1 road car platform. Instead of packing the 650 horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V8 mill under its hood, however, the GT4.R has a naturally aspirated, race-derived version of the Small Block engine. Other features include a new wind tunnel-developed front splitter, rear wing and rear diffuser, an X-Trac six-speed sequential racing transmission, two-Way Adjustable Ohlins dampers and Brembo six-piston brakes with adjustable ABS.

Curious how this might change in the future. By that I mean, I remember the C6.R being based on the Z06 platform first and then "changed" to the ZR1. Could this car do the same? As in, there is a ZL1 available right now, so that's what they will base it on, then when a Z/28 possibly arrives, the GT4.R will change to that?

Optical illusion. Would be kinda cool, though.

IMSA GS Class regulations. Section 9.9 is Engines and 9.10 speaks about boost regulations. From what I read, it seems like only turbochargers are allowed?

I saw no way, those fenders must be wider, even if just a little.

That's kind of my thinking right now... but who knows.

I really don't want to buy another car though...

They'd have to restamp the entire door/rear quarter panel to do that. They didn't.

Factory car...factory body....that's the whole point of GT4...keeping things as close to the showroom floor as is possible while competing on the racetrack.

EDIT: It's also a drawing, so it could definitely have some deviations...

Yes, but isn't an LT4 an LT1 with a supercharger (and a few other differnces)? Like saying an LT4 is a supercharged version of the LT1. Perhaps that is what they meant, since they probably can't say LT5 yet.

I still look at that hot LT1 engine on the chevy site that is making 535BHP and something like 470ft-lb of torque as being the likely engine.
