Are you talking about removing the secondary unmonitored cats? if so that is pure nonsense. The V6 runs great and sounds great with the mid pipe without the secondary cats, I have for 4000 miles. If they were talking about the primary cats, that is a federal offense and most shops will not remove them.

Secondary cats are unmonitored and in no way would have any effect on performance. They are purely there for more emissions control.. you will love the sound removing them will give just do not remove your primary cats..

The secondary cats are a restriction, removing them creates better exhaust flow, more power. Clean up the intake tract for better flow will compliment the better exhaust flow.

First-keep the cats and do the Borla if you must. The second cats reduce raspiness, removing them is not necesary. Your V6 breathes fine through the factory pipes.

The sound of the exhaust is better without the secondary cats, the exhaust flow is better without the secondary cats restriction, win , win.

Catalytic converters haven't been a point of restriction in an exhaust system (unless plugged) for like.. decades.

Rasp is the main enemy on V6 sound.
Do the Attak exhaust, or do the 2nd cats, but don't do both (my opinion)....unless you like excess loud rasp under hard acceleration. But the part about it killing your performance from removing the secondary cats is just wrong...at least on this car. Don't worry about that.

For most states only the front cats are required for full emission compliance. The secondary cats are only required in CA and a few other CARB states that have more stringent requirements. I guess GM installs them on all cars to make manufacturing less complex and to eliminate problems for dealers moving cars between states.
