BF Goodrick Comp 2A/S. Good cold weather traction wet or dry , decent in snow. Tend to be a bit loud but these do grip really well in the cold. I'm getting these myself.

I had the Conti DWS or what ever they are called these days and they hydroplaned on me once at like 30K on the tires so that turned me off a bit on those.

I'd recommend getting a separate set of wheels and tires over just using all seasons. Winter tires will work a lot better in snow. I have seperate 18" wheels with Blizzaks on them. Tirerack has a lot of good winter packages.

I'd highly recommend Firestone Winterforce. I noticed no traction difference between those and Blizzaks. They were considerably cheaper than Blizzaks and lasted considerably longer. I was shocked how quickly the Blizzaks wore down. I get a winter tire is soft but that was ridiculous. The Winterforce has just as much traction on snow and ice. FYI, look at Firestones website for all available sizes. They weren't all listed on Tire Rack.

I'd recommend performance winter tires, especially Michelin Pilot Alpin 4.

I see you are from Illinois too. I was leaning towards getting the DWS06 all season tires for my 2SS for around $980 with tax (not including labor). But like stated above going with an extra set might be beneficial. i do think it would be more cost effective too but I really dont have the space for an extra set of wheels so i might just drive my wife's Cruze when needed.

Find some 5th gen SS wheels, then put 245/40s on all 4 corners... Skinny tires FTW.

Just got my 2SS a couple months ago, in IL as well. Think I'm going to go with these tires/wheels and keep the stock set in my basement til Spring:

Winter" is too broad of a statement and going only on his location of Chicago is still pretty bland to know what he's up against, making use of an A/S, or a snow/ice tire.

I went with General G-max AS 05's which are available in stock sizes for the SS wheels. The Goodrich tires were no longer available in stock sizes when I bought. That may have changed. I would look for the set which has the current rebate which is usually $70 on a set of 4.
Search ebay for SS wheels. They will pop up when someone buys a new SS and swaps the wheels. I paid about $750 shipped for 4 wheels.

I run OE 18" Camaro LT wheels with Pirelli Sottozero winter tires. Traction is never an issue.
