This is the one I plan on getting; BL-5000EXT Car Lift
How come the EXT vs the SLX? Is the wheel base that much longer?

Oops sorry, for their site it's just the PROMO CODE field. RockAuto is the "How did you hear about us" field.. ordered from both recently and got confused.

The EXT barely works on the Camaro from all reports. The SLX is too short. I have the SLX so I can more easily use it under some of my other cars (like the MR2s) and will have the add-on extensions once they arrive.

The Extensions give you an extra 1.5" of lifting height too...

Yes. You have to as the quickjack has a recessed plate where the blocks sit. If you don't use the rubber blocks the quickjack will lift using your rocker panels. Not good.

The EXT just fits.
You have to have the front bolt on ZL1addons lift points all the way back, and the rear lift points all the way forward and it just fits.

If you bolt on the lift pads at the pinch weld spot below the mirrors the standard model might work, but I wanted the lift points as close to the heaviest mass as possible.

In addition to the other answers, I want to be able to use it on all of my vehicles so I will have all my bases covered. I just measures the RS as that is the shortest wheel base of my group and the 76" total length of the EXT is not an issue. Additionally, after further research I also decided to move from the 5000XLT to the 7000XLT as I am also a truck guy and can foresee using that added lifting weight in the future. It's only $155 more and I hate buying things twice!

These are SO awesome, I cant wait to get mine next spring. Such an awesome alternative to installing a true lift in your garage.

Has anyone used their Quick Jack to do a header install? Just wondering if it gives you enough additional lift (vs jack stands) to help simplify the install (by giving you a better angle at sliding the headers up from the bottom.

I plan on it when the time comes.

These are pretty sturdy? Looking at the the pictures I'm a little nervous about getting under a car on them.

Im on the same boat as you, also keep in mind there are locks on this thing though. Which is like a fail safe. I suppose my biggest concern would be it buckling from the sides. I was hoping someone would share their experiences with it. I.e., has anyone been smushed - for lack of better words

When I first assembled mine I left my 4th gen in the air all night. Figured if something was gonna fail I'd rather know right away lol Had the 6th gen in the air a couple times, no issues. Just be sure to use plenty of teflon tape when assembling the hose.

The locks are the primary holding device.
The hydraulic cylinders are for raising and lowering, not meant to hold a vehicle all by themselves.

Had my car in the air over 24 hours, no problem.

When it comes time for tires, I will remove them and just take the wheels and tires to the tire shop, leave the 1LE safe at home.
