2017 2SS - Leftover Pricing

Greetings,

I rented a 2018 Camaro SS for a week while traveling for business and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. So, it is time to do this.

I have been browsing online (CarGurus, AutoTrader, Camaro6) and it seems like there are some great deals out there in general and some of you got INCREDIBLE deals on 2016 leftovers last year. I really have a 1SS budget (a deal there too), but a leftover 2SS could be an option...

The dealer is very high volume; MSRP is $46,885.00. What kind of a deal can I expect to get here.

Thanks in advance!

I stopped by this evening and the dealer came up with the following:

$40k + Tax, title, tags, doc fee. Was their best offer. I am not impressed. They have had the car in inventory since Summer 2016.

I'll wait until they are eager to move it or find a good deal on a 1SS.

MSRP is important when you say $40K is too much. If that's a fairly loaded 2SS being ~47-49K that to me is decent considering GM is only offering $2500 bonus cash right now. I did really well on my car being a 2016 leftover bought in October 2016 for almost 25% off but GM was also running 20% off at that time. $40K is around what I would expect for a SS 1LE.

I'd broaden your search, the best deal around me on cars.com is at tasca and they have a white 2SS for $37983 with a MSRP of $49345.

My experience is the same. I found a leftover 2017 2SS that has been sitting on their lot for over 400 days. Dealer would only come down about $5K off MSRP.

25% off MSRP was not happening in Feb, maybe March will be better but doubt it.

I was looking for a 2LT convertible and the dealers are not treating these as leftovers and cars sitting on the lot for over a year. I got a better discount on my Fifty when it was a current model.

Starting to think this is a big reason Camaro sales suck.

I had a buddy score a new, loaded f150 off the lot that was a model year old....approaching being 2 model years old. It has like 200-300miles on it from “test drives” etc. He negotiated the KBB retail price as a USED CAR off a lot. I thought that was a crafty tactic. Not sure where that would land a 2017 SS, but might be worth trying if the car has more than factory miles on it, and has been sitting for years (which also isn’t great for the car for various reasons).

Harder to find deals this year than last

I bought a 2016 1ss vert in 11/06 for 25% MSRP. Great car, lots of shop time, GM agreed to repurchase. While waiting for the process to finish I had been looking for 25% off left over 2017s and couldn't find any find any. So based on my unscientific search and time spend on this forum I would say the new2017s still left are not going for 25% off MSRP. I went with a slightly used 2017 on Saturday. Very happy so far.

Here is a link for another camaroIwas considering: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...results.xhtml%

A lot of car for the money, dealer will ship and lifetime warranty seems pretty enticing if you keep your cars for a long time like I do to lessen the sting of depreciation.

Was also considering this one https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invent...sModified=true

I had not made contact with this dealer yet.

Both are convertibles. Both are a lot of car for the money. If you have issues the warranty will protect you so i would say go for it.

Good luck with your search!

You may be looking new and if you are sorry to waste your time but you can find really low mileage used 17 1SS in the mid to high twenties at Carmax.

It looks like they bought every fleet car 1SS in the country with the amount of them they have. Just an idea if you wanted to save a few bucks.

From the incentives offered this winter it's clear that Chevy were more focused on getting rid of LT models. The SS remains in relatively high demand so dealers can afford to sit on them for longer and so I'd be amazed if we ever see 20+% deals again from the winter of 2016-17.

Even looking online today, the price difference between 2017 vs 2018 models is negligible so as others have said, better to push for either 10-15% discount on any new models (2017/2018) or look at the growing used market.

I was initially only looking for 1SS's as that was all my $32k budget would allow but ended up finding a 2016 2SS with 7k miles, NPP and MRC (MSRP over $46k) for the same money - loving it!

I think (for me at least) I got so focused on getting a good deal that I almost missed getting the car & spec I really wanted. I came really close to buying a new 1SS with no options but am now far happier with what I have. There are plenty of good cars & deals out there so don't compromise...

Thanks for the input everyone!

I ended up with a new 2018 Hyper Blue Metallic 1SS A8 w/ a sunroof, blackout bowties, hyper blue hood vents and the hyper blue interior door trim. The hyper blue interior trim sounds silly on the window sticker, but it gives the interior an edge over the silver trim.

Sticker was $42,725 and I paid $35,800 + tax, title, and registration.

The 2SS is nice, but most of the cost is for stuff I don't care about (HUD, multi-color LED interior lights, GM navigation). Leather is nice to look at, but I prefer sitting on and maintaining cloth. I have added heated seats to my other vehicles aftermarket, so I am not missing out there either. Blind spot monitors are cool and useful, but I would hate to count on it and have it fail unexpectedly. Adjusting your mirrors properly does the trick (which I verified during a week-long rental last year). The only feature I would have liked is the Bose stereo.

MRC is great, but it is another item to malfunction and it is expensive to replace.

NPP is also nice, but the base 2 outlet exhaust also sounds louder and more aggressive when in sport & track modes (not sure how). NPP just gets much louder overall. I have also heard people have issues with rattles in stealth mode.

At the end of the day, the 1SS is still the nicest and best equipped car I have ever owned and it fit my budget very well!

Sounds like a great car NJ and no doubt the 1SS is still a great spec as standard (Navigation isn't even standard on the 2SS). Main thing is you've found a great car you're happy with for a good price.
